yea I noticed the sound got much worse as I took everything out.

I dont want to build panels, im too lazy for that, stuffing bookshelf with rockwool and stapling fabric seems much easier, and get more density.

but will it do anything for 50-120hz?



+ rockwool in each compartment and wrapped with fabric placed in each corner?

or am I wasting my time here.

I have a 14 x 10 room.

right now jbl 305. but planning on adam audio a7v after I fix my room. or I dont know, the bass is already overwhelming on these 5 inchers. not sure. maybe the front port will help but, since bass radiates im not sure how much.

Soundproofing or sound treatment, as they're very different things.

Sound proofing implies that you want to prevent bass frequencies travelling to other rooms, and there's next to nothing you can do about that without extensive and costly building works.

Treating the room for bass build up is another matter. Bookshelves and furniture will help to scatter/absorb higher frequencies, but you need mass to absorb low frequencies. Bass traps are the answer.

If you don't want to buy bass traps, it's probably best to have a look on Youtube for DIY solutions using off the shelf insulation materials.

yea they're on stands 1m away from wall on the longest side on the room.

nearfield my bass is getting sucked out. for now the plan is to move the desk closer to the middle of the room and increase the throw of the speakers, get rid of my monitors and wallmount a tv.

I mix in mono using a Reftone LD-38 REF CUBE and Stereo headphones Sennheiser hd650 for mixing.
I also have Yamaha hs-80m going to get a krk sub just for fun and check to see how it sounds not for real mixing because I have no room treatment or sound proofing.

Do I need room treatment or sound proofing just for just a small specker like a reftone / auratone?


Room treatment or sound proofing my next step, I guess in my 10 x 10 bedroom studio.

14 x 10 at least it isn't completely square, you could probably make your own if you were handy at DIY, i bought some GIK traps years ago still doing the job, still nodes in my room so I check with headphones

I kind of gave up on the sound treatment, trying to find some headphones I can jive with, but Im struggling hard to get back on track, not sure if its going to happen at this point. my processing chains are so whack that nothing sounds good nor can I hear the truth.

Thought i'd be back in the swing of things by now but doesnt look like it.

my next hopeless endeavor is; get some more hardware.
