A lot of people were doing event promotion on this board, that moved to facebook that can integrate sales, give a lot of statistics etc, that need is totally gone.
every mainstream artist has social media and youtube with endless content so, the content itch isnt here either.
ease of use : to log into an oldschool board isnt really that attractive, there was no innovation on the platform, or a fun factor to drive in more users. also a bit intimidating to a new user, especially now. a lot of the base of users grew up and had families, no time for this shit; without a influx of new its like going down as time goes by.
I still think this place is really nice, there is no infiltration of social media bots / AI and there are quite a few very knowledgeable users that you'll be hard pressed to find on other platforms.
good news is, if you follow some smaller circles, old school trance is rearing its head here and there, the old trance sound has aged extremely well. im not talking about the uplifting trance.
im no historian, just sharing my thoughts.
