T.T. - The Vox mention you pointed out. It's true, unfortunately this VOX sample was not Dry and had very little control over it. I didn't quite understand why it did that until I listened yesterday to the original mix. The transition is fast on the original and transitions into the weird sounding effect from the first word to the next. Really odd and the only thing I could do was add a pan to it to somehow make it seem natural.
Noted as well on the kick

Thanks for the input fellas. Think this is the final cut on this one.

(listening on headphones)

Nice start. The layering of synth with piano makes it shine. Great drums. Other than the kick seeming too boomy (fixable with slight eq) for my liking this is great. Well balanced, vocals could be a tad louder for me personally. Really good stuff!

Thanks man for your comment. As far as your track - just have one question, is your bass layered?

layered in terms of more than one instance of the synth duplicated, or more than one synth mixed into the same source?

well no, its one instance with 3 oscillators mixed into the amp of the synth, if that counts as layered or not sure on the standard.

there is a stacking effect with the inbuilt unison maybe thats what you're getting at?

I still havent solved the low-end conundrum.

its tough opening a daw these days, I'm thinking about getting a boog.

Got you, I would (in my personal opinion) just work on a bit on separation between high, mid and low ends on this bass but, I guess it is not going to be that easy when you have only one instance loaded into 3 oscillators.
Overall I like this deep and suspended melodic evolution which you have develop so far, nice WIP.

thats a fair point, im really struggling with low-end material. perhaps separating sub and lower mids is probably optimal. I like the sound of full thick oscillators and hope to make them work, they usually dont I guess.

We need a Discord channel.
Being able to see someone's screen while in production of a song, or even using it to demonstrate a method to an individual or a group; is huge. Throw video and chat with it...valuable.

In your case SZM, I would be curious to see your screen while in your production phase of a track. It would be much easier to analyze and I would be able to hear through my monitors as well; or even multiple others joining in for that matter.

Wonder if TA is ready to evolve to that state. Wonder if it would truly be utilized.

I usually do record my wips when I post them here, but I guess I dont go to in depth with the chains.

I also have some external gear on the way so that complicates things.

After a few months of not doing much I revisited the above. It's very rough still. I came up with the idea of crossing over the original with the prelude song (called 'Already There') on the album. I thought is was a nice touch as I haven't seen other remixes do that. The prelude contains an acoustic guitar version of the well known offshore plucks. Some AI tool provided a nice clean cut of the guitar. I really dig the tension that is building there so I need to figure out how to progress from there and release it at some point.

So what I did is just moved the bulk of what I had to a later time and put the guitar in between. Hence the gap in the middle. Will glue it all together at a later point.

I sampled some stuff from both the original offshore, already there and some offshore remix to get to this point.

Posted major update just now. Slowly getting to where I want it to be Needs more intro, more spice in the breaks part and climax needs to be improved but it isn't half bad if I my say so myself

sounding good, main kick me likey, quite punchy. the mid bass is quite nicely saturated/driven. nice piano at the end there, would like to hear more of it.

not really sure how to recommend sprucing it up to make it more interesting. maybe some really long swelly pads with pitch bendy features

reminds me a lot of matthew dekay's old stuff in a way.

this one is such a classic and still holds up.

Thank you. I took that into account, still more to do. Changed many things the past few days (clip has been updated throughout the process so it is recent). Was trying to figure out how to work to the climax. Had to put in a mini break before climax otherwise it wouldn't hit quite right. I feel like I' m getting close to rounding up a track again in about 2 yers time . Feels good.
