Hey Systematic!
That snip starts sweet. Cool synths, bass on the background. Piano sounds a bit static but the vibe is sweet. New synths coming just as much. I was expecting a cleaner beat to drop in (probably because I listen Hospital Records stuff every now and then).
All in all a well balanced track with plenty of excitement and variation. Not sure of it would work but playing with note timing an velocity on the piano and adding some percs (hats mostly I guess) to the beat to make it feel speedier is what I'd suggest.
Some parts for a track, not molded together very well but a fun listen I reckon. |
Storyteller,
You may not realize this but, that is the nicest thing you have said about ANY of my tracks, in 10 years. LOL Appreciate the feedback and kind words.
Poppy - I was kind of reading your notes on the track. First off, love the opening synth tonality. I dig the closed filter and that one "squelching" open/drop @ 0:00:14. The ride of that closed filter is cool but seems to lose it's drive the further it moves along. It isn't that I don't like that tail however, just as a suggestion, I would keep riding that line until you arrive at the 0:00:39 mark but introduce the piano at that mark to take the void off that filter instead of an earlier introduction of the piano. That way, it brings something bright in to make up for that filter going lower.
At the 0:00:47 mark, that Electrovibe piano comes in under the filter, personally...I would take that off the filter to show it's brightness but keep the pad in it's lower filter frequency you have automated.
The third part intro @ the 0:01:00 mark changes abruptly, not sure if this is what you wanted on a creative level. But, I really dig how that translates in transition. Nice roll to bring it in.
Not so sure about the extra note on the snare, it seems a little "off".
Overall, this track has a really nice old school housey vibe that has that old Detroit/UK feel. Once the track starts moving it really has a nice groove. And totally dig that beginning synth. This one has a lot of potential Story!
