The idea in my head was more cinematic. Morricone. Buffalo drums. Bells. But it was already sounding great after I replaced just two General MIDI instruments so I decided to share it right away.
Everything but the flute & guitar are General MIDI instruments. They just sound good because of the reverb preset I found that adds a choir-like echo to everything. The guitar is just triggering some arp pattern. I'm not actually strumming a guitar.
I'm going to add some sub bass but it's not going to be hip-hop. Still a soundtrack style of music.
Pan flute does sound better, even the General Midi preset, however, I wanted flute consistency across my tracks using Passion Flute.

Dood....this is really very cool. It is so atmospheric and worldly. Really really really like this.
If I had to say one thing about it, I would say that I wasn't as fond of the percussion elements.Personally, If you had none I still think it would be awesome. At the same time I can understand why especially on the artistic level.

can I get a bass check? dont mind the first part, its triggering wierd. this mix isnt coming along very well, i'll probably have to swap the kick.

Granted I'm on shit headphones at work but the triggering is all wrong and it's fucking with the kick/bass mud. I can't quite hear past it.

Sure, Rann is right and I think you need to quantize the midi notes or audio on the sound that's outta place, and it starts at 0:15

I feel you, there was just something I enjoyed with the off quantization it felt less boring I suppose, but I guess its a no go.


here it is with quantiziation but, im already over this project its going in the bin.




regarding your WIP, my initial impression is that your mid bass is too agressive in the mix, it is eating up too much and might have to eq down the lower mids somewhere, not certain though.

Now it sounds lovely, much, much better. It ain't so bad experimenting with off beat, imo, I think that's where the swing feature fits best.

All fixed now..added even another bass.

too much bass - don't you get tired using the same kicks and basslines all the time? If you are trying to fit a certain sound then how will you ever know where you can take your music? just my 2c, don't mean to sound critical
