Yeah, for the most part, lol. Maybe not this heated, but there is always discrepancies over submitted genres.

Arguements about genres were to be expected, purely on the subjective nature of music. No one should be surprised.

What wasnt expected? People will occasionally make threads asking why TA's membership continues to decline. Look at this thread: it couldn't go more than 2 pages without someone going off on a rage crusade about a word someone tagged to a genre which is used rather commonly outside of TA, going through pages of posting history, all to create some sort of bizarre inductive psychoanalysis that I am a racist hippie who wears feather headdresses while reading wanky blogs, all while playing a game of 10th dimensional e-chess to get a handful of plays on a dated mix I did while dropping acid on the daily. Oh and apparently I'm gay too, now, so we have the 14 year old perspective too.

No wonder this forum is headed to the graveyard. Even reddit is better than this shit.

Think whatever you want, mate. I've heard loads of stuff by Desert Dwellers and I've used their tracks in a couple of my mixes so if you want to wrap yourself in the protective fallacy that I'm just ignorant about their music, be my guest.

And TA is in decline because trance is in decline and forums are in decline. The fact that I'm a dickhead is small change.

Trance is in decline because the stuff coming out these days (the new sound) is geared towards excitement chasing teens with no philosophy of life, whatsoever. I was on beatport the other day checking the progressive new releases and was surprised to find many tracks not catering to the new sound, which is good in my opinion. If only more producers can do the same and continue to make music based on emotion instead of crap that has builds that makes your head want to explode, that'd be a good thing.

And not to mention, I've been on TA for a while now, but dropped off after seeing loads and loads of hurtful threads. This was at one time the go to site for anything related to trance/progressive. A LOT of talented has been generated out of TA. But, people will only take so much bashing before they move on. When you bash a new person that is interested in learning the djing/production realm, you really are hurting the scene, as a whole. Just my opinion. And I am not referring to you System-J, I am just speaking in general.

System J's the resident sophist. He likes to pretend that he knows a lot more about some things than he really does. Granted there are some areas that he's knowledgeable in but it's not as much as he'd like to believe. Knowing the limits of one's knowledge is important. I would point out how aggrotech for instance isn't even remotely obscure but why would I bother. Just because someone's suggested an excessively obscure genre doesn't mean they've got some grand insideous plan, it just means they haven't fully concidered the affects on people's abilities to complete the mix. That sortof psycho analysis just isn't helpful in this situation. Especially when we're just talking about making some mixes for fun.

It's just jay causing shit. Everyone else is being civil and debating whether something is or isn't obscure. I mean seriously was the race card necassary? Even more amusing I bet jay probably didn't have that opinion before he read this article.

Be fair, there's plenty of decent old timers. You act reasonably, as does sushi, rebel9 and swamper and many more.
