Simple, just testing the equipment out before you buy it or buying some less expensive and simpler stuff starting out, or starting on software. You don't really need a 5 channel mixer or the greatest effector (you almost don't even need one, unless you want to be James Zabiela) or even CDJ 1000 MK2s or MK3s. I bought them, I acknowledge, but I sold a bunch of stuff, had money saved and couldn't decide really. I also had some experience mixing. I just don't think you need all of that for a starter set, even some pros or guys that DJ at clubs don't have that fancy of equipment. I recommend to most people who are just starting out...to get CDJ 200s and an inexpensive 2 or 3 channel mixer, like a Numark DXM-06. That is both good quality, has good resale value and also will last you quite a while. I would have gotten that if I started out a year ago, but I had been mixing since I was 16...of software, and TTs and I wanted vinyl emulation but I also wanted wave display, CD-Text, and a greater number of pitch ranges. No hate, just stating my point of view. It's an awesome set up.. I'm actually kind of jealous...hehe. I'm not arguing about it really, just stating my opinion.
