Big bassey kicks.......?????
How big, how bassey?
Quite a common feedback comment is that a kick is not big / deep / bassey enough.
People like Joris Voorn say many tracks sound bad in the club as the kick is over-powering.
I often try and keep my kicks quite tame with this in mind but when I post up a WIP here I get the feedback the kick needs to have more low end, and be generally 'bigger'.
So the question is this; When u guys say make the kick bigger with more bottom end, are u mindful this could swamp the track in a club?
I notice in the car many tracks have too much kick and it sort of renders the bassline a bit undefined and hard to pick out. |
I would agree with Joris Voorn, a lot of club stuff these days is just a wall of sub
I love when the older tracks are played as the kicks sound great, not too subby but plenty of thump, what i try to do is start with a good sounding sample, roll off the low end and boost around 80hz instead
