When your playing, 90% is only the music. That’s why being a DJ is so special, because we only care about the music we are spinning as well, nothing about fame, or any “skills” to impress and boost the ego (of course it’s a industry so DJ’s do sell out, hence the top 10 DJ’s in the world, AvB, Pvd, Tiesto, all those sell outs). We play to create an hour of non stop damn good music. And the 10% is how you mix those bad boys and make it sound flawless, a never-ending journey and it’s the presence you have over the crowd and if you can control and connect with the crowd.
Now for me, I’ve only seen one live performance with abelton, BT and he used his apple laptop, etc. It was alright; he got into it and danced with the crowd, lots of energy. But its nothing compared to watching a set live with TT’s. Seeing that “Technic”, white label sexy logo, and you see those guys playing an instrument, the turntable, etc, the show is just magnified beyond any abelton set would get. A DJ will always be a DJ. A violinist will always be a violinist. So if this abelton thing gets big I guess it will be a new era, but they will not be DJ’s. So I think.
