Well, the sound set can really change the synths attractiveness for a user. I have a yamaha ex5 and while it was geared to all synth users, I uploaded the euro sound set and it became a trance machine. The majority of synth manufactures stick to this route, i.e. mass marketing. Yet, it is far more effective to market a synth to a particular genre or user. At least most musicains starting out only like a singular kind of music, most musicains end up liking every kind of music in the end I believe.
The groovebox stuff is marketed for the dj and dance music scene. I do believe the virus is marketed for the electronic music scene, if not, it sure became that way by word of mouth. Personally I find the nord lead 3 geared towards electronic music, but is diverse enough for film scores, etc. When you see sounds like phropeht and matrix, I think trance or better yet 80's where trance came from anyways. Obviously a present of rogue would appeal to techno, trance etc. unless I missed that psytrance and etc. love the moog rogue.
Ps I fixed the nord lead 3! No more sticky buttons yah! How do you use the nord lead 3 as your controller, in cubase? I have yet to set up the contections for it.
