Well mine have just fucked out on me. Can't say I am too fussed.

Anyone willing to pay shipping can have my pair of 7506 and revel in the wack ass donkey dicking in the ear canal of a life time in exchange for any reasonable closed headphones, the cable is literally about to fall off by the capsule otherwise the cans are fine.

Easy fix... look at the box- full diagram on it.

Designed that way for a reason- professional audio peeps (who these are aimed at) dont tend to bin stuff when its very easily fixable.

contact your local sony parts retailer with the product code

there's a reason why studios have had pairs for over 20 years, fix the little things that break over time

You guys really are a piece of fucking work.

Accept the fact they suck arse.

I know about the diagram. And I also know that Sony charge $60 for the cable, and will only provide it if you get it replaced by them, which involved sending it off.

Which takes a few weeks, glad I'm not professional depending on that kinda shit service, all my other cans have wire that clips in and out, and can be bought from the internet and delivered next day.

And Tony, I had to find this out through internet work, I called two local Sony retailers and they didn't even have the headphones on their database let alone the spare parts. In fact they didn't even know what to suggest other than google it, I'm guessing it's cause I didn't show them my I'm a professional card though. Fuck.

*In before use another brand cable and DIY, that's what professionals do.* I'm already on that ******.

Buy new headphones if you're not happy with them.

I have a lovely pair of 580's that are sitting on my ears right now.

But for DJing I require closed back, since I am broke I will need to fix them myself. I don't like borrowing other headphones, however I did at a recent gig and really really enjoyed my mates Technics 1210 headphones. Tight punchy bass and lots of isolation. Served very well indeed.

With the repair in mind could any pro's shed light on the best way to avoid butchering my cans?

Merci!

Well no not really
I know a very large amount of Djs and engineers- studio, live, monitor, club and FOH- and these are pretty much universally very highly respected cans.
Very few people have a bad word to say about them. And this isnt people at the local ritzy- this is high end A list stuff and people at the top of their game.
I could tell you which clubs I work at most of the time, and which respected artists i am lucky enough to count as friends but Im not really comfortable posting it on here for obvious reasons.
Thats not intended as a 'wow look at me I have a big nob' type post as im really not that sort of person, its just merely pointing out that very few people do think they suck ass.

Should be easily available over the phone with no sending off required. Who did you call?

No its because they are US model only- any sold over here are imports and not via official sony stores.
They are also aimed at the professional market not the consumer market, which is why you cant buy them in currys and dixons and the sony centre like the mdrv700s.

Of course, if you dont like them, thats your lookout...
