As promised, proper review is finally ready. What a crazy, hectic week!
Love the opening track. I first heard this on Deeper Shades of Euphoria, mixed by Jay Burnett. It's just a great track. Right after the first fade, you can tell the next track is a Mango production. It just has that signature Mango sound that I've come to look for in your sets. It's a sound that is introspective but dreamy. Your description is apt. Love the subtle piano melody in this track. Sicilian Flame picks up the pace a bit with its kick and bassline. The melody is indeed "twangy" and works well with the bassline. The mix into Series is relatively quick, but it works well here. The melody with the xylophone sound is unique. The guitar melodies in Red Moon start subtly then build with the chants. Love how the two work together in this track. I found myself turning up the volume here. Next up is Turn Into and your discription of "quirky" is apt. I really don't know how else to describe this track. The vocal in the breakdown intrigues me for some reason, though. Nirvana brings us back to that introspective Mango sound, and the piano in this is gorgeous. Loving every minute of this track. Indeed, we're back in the light now. Okay, here we go. Things I Never Told is where this mix takes off for me personally. We're hitting peak time, and this is just the track to get us ready. So uplifting and a lot going on in this track. Rosa Mystica continues the peak time drive, and it does indeed mix well with Things I Never Told. Love the "wavy" melody in this track. Maybe that's a poor way to describe it, but this track explodes the mix! Runaway is a masssive track, but I can't help but wonder what this sounds like with the vocals. Driving trance, this stuff! Border just blows my mind right out, and the Mango treatment is just what is called for. Love the mix into this! So uplifting and evocative. This is the track of the mix for me, thanks for introducing me to this gem. Being a Storyteller fan since your first mix, I really like Besoin D'Aimer. That first breakdown hits the spot. Wrapping up, you can't go wrong with anything from Solarstone.
Mint mix, mate. This got me through a very tedious week. Thank you for a year's worth of great mixes that delivered every time.
