He was still a major shareholder of Stanton so it was kind of like Stanton buying Numark, although it was autonomous from the company. Numark had started out quite well built and good quality but in the years that followed the acquisition, numark became more and more a budget brand, basically catering to the low end/entry level market. Some of it was also market pressures - as the DJ thing exploded, competition really amped up and the most lucrative part of the market was selling cheap equipment to people startuing out, especially as Numark couldn't quite compete with the really high end models from Ure, Rane, Vestax etc. So that's why you'll find really old mixers from Numark that have stood up really well. The mixers you see fucked from vestax are nearly always the lower end ones which much like Numark, were the ones that were made to cash in on the lower end of the market. Same thing with Gemini - they used to make mixers that would take an absolute kicking, even their really cheap ones but as time went on they became really disposable. Allen and Heath don't have many problems - they always used good quality faders and came from a background of live sound and touring so they were built well, but I have seen some random failures with them such are PCB's dying or transformers crapping out. Still it's rare.

Question for DJ Sarah or anyone else. How are the DJ Tech models? Durability, reliability, sound quality, etc? I've been seeing these pop up. Two channel and four channel models. The reviews seem mixed, but I figure I'd ask you folks first. All my current mixers are Denon's (dn-x1500, 1500s, dnx-100), with the exception of one Vestax PMC-25.

There's really not that much info about them out there. reviews have been decent (nothing mind blowing) and durability seems good although it's early days.

one nice feature is the DVS connectivity (extra sets of RCA inputs) so you can have either your decks or CDJ's play via DVA whenever you want. I have piggyback cables that do exactly the same thing, so it's not a super selling point but nice that they packaged it.

I cant help on the DJ Tech Mixers, never seen one let alone use one!

I actually use a Behringer DDM 4000 at home and at gigs where I need to take my own equipment, its not really relevant to this thread as its a 4 channel mixer with tons of buttons and effects and displays, the complete opposite to what this thread is about, but I have had it 5 years now, its still looks almost pristine, its been dragged about from gig to gig, its been abused, had wine spilt in it, other DJs slam the hell out of the faders and EQs and its still going strong, no noise from the pots or the faders, they are all still smooth and everything works as it did from new, even all the knobs are still on it lol
My other favourite mixer which again, goes against the grain from most on here, is the Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus, I love using it in clubs and one is on my shopping list, my only complaint on the DJM 900 Nexus is that its overpriced (pioneer, what a surprise its overpriced..)

Yeah, overall, I'm not a fan of Behringer (for reasons too obvious to go in to) but every so often they get a product just right, that turns out to be amazing value and quality. Rets of their products are usually dogshit but at least they're so cheap that they are disposable.

Behringer has always consistently done speakers well. I still have my truth monitors after all these years and they're great. I also have a PA speaker that I bought to replace an Eon and it sounds just a s good and it's much cheaper.
