A cut down version of the S8, I wonder if the mixer section will still use the software mixer as the S8 does for digital.

That was the main thing that stopped me buying the S8, the fact that when mixing digital media it uses the software mixer but on CDJs, Decks it uses the hardware mixer which sounded so much better!

I really don't know why they do this as with CDJs as controllers, you use your 'hardware' mixer.

Plus it has a 4 channel mixer but only one set of aux inputs which are not switchable between line and phono where as the S8 has 4 sets of aux inputs which are switchable between line and phono and has a ground connector.

I would say the S5 is not designed for use with vinyl or DVS.

Nope, it seems it's purely CDJ or Digital. Totally agree that they should allow the option to use the mixer on the S series for either digital or analogue signal. Seems dumb that they force you to use the worse sounding internal summing mixer for digital files.

Good if you need a budget version of the S8 and are never going to use vinyl but with the trend now swing back to the black discs, I think it's silly limitation they've made on this one.
