A&H:Xone 42 vs A&H: Xone 92
Hi!
I really need some help, im a DJ800 owner but i want to switch to Allen & Heath mixers 42 or 92.
I know that both mixers have their advantages and disadvantages.
For an ex, 42th has Send/Return , 92th dosent and its very complicated to hook with an efx, but instead it has a second mid knob and best filter.
What is your opinion , is the sound quality huge between this mixers?
What would you choose?
if money no object 92. 42 is probably better value for money though. 4 band eq and two filters make the difference there.
Kinda a tossup there... the fx send/return really IS bad on the 92, the 42 is great in that regards, and you get the USB soundcard to record your mixes (if that's useful for you).
Actually I would advise you to wait until after the 15th, because the NAMM show is on then, and typically new products will be announced.
I'd imagine A+H might have something new coming out.
had to deal with this decision before, decided to get the 92 though.
I have a 92 and the EFX is not that bad. You just have to learn how to use it. I was hooking my EFX to my channel 4 and was using the crossfader to move to the EFX. The crossfader acts as a dry/wet control for the EFX.
What about a xone 62 vs 92? I really like the 4 EQs and the filters, but im not sure if there is a sound quality difference between these two.
Any ideas
--thanks
I haven't heard the 62, but I've been told the sound quality is nearly identical. Some people complain about the studio style faders though.
I have played on the 92, and while I love the mixer, it's pretty overkill in a home setup. IMO the 42 or 62 would be enough.
it's all A&H, i would think the audio quality would be pretty similar

Yes the 62 and the 92 are both 6 channel mixers and they have very similar features. I personally like the studio faders, and the price which is quite a bit less than the 92 (roughly half the price).

Originally posted by epdarks Yeah the 62 is overkill too. If I was buying a Xone, I'd buy the 32. It's not like any DJ on this forum can mix 4 decks anyway. |

Originally posted by Yohan well, 62's cue option is a bit annoying for a lot of people, plus there is no headphone mixing mode which is fine with me since i prefer monitors and you'd be surprised how many talented DJs are on ta! |
I actually prefer the monitoring on the 62. I always have the cue in my left ear and the master I listen to with my other ear out of the headphones, and it keeps riff raff who need cue blend and other crap away from my mixer.
I always love seeing someone struggle with the cue and then ask 'how do I blend it, or make this channel louder than this one?'

I never said there was a right way. Just that I like seeing people squirm who are used to cue blend or mixing in the headphones. It makes my penis an inch larger in circumference.

Thanks for all the answers, i decided after a lot of thinking and comparing, to go with the Xone:42.
I would love to have the 92, but im a "bedroom dj" and it would be to expensive to have such a mixer and get to struggle with routing the efx sound through a spare channel.
In the 42 you have an excellent fx-sendreturn, as it should be standard in any club mixer. And the sound quality is the same as in the 92.
Im selling my DJM-800 and CDJs 800 because i only mix vinyl now, so im very exited to muy future mixer, the xone 42, and not to mention i saving money
I have the 42, excellent mixer, would highly recommend it.
You wont be disappointed

I am in the same dilemma right now. I currently own the A&H Xone 42 but i given the chance to buy the Xone 92 for quite cheap, about $1140 and or £685.
Should i take the chance?
Do it. That's a great deal for one of the best DJ mixers ever made.
Post up your thoughts once you've had a chance to play with it.
meh. I've had this discussion many times. I have a 42 and have used the 92 plenty. I prefer the former. 92 is way overkill for home use. Cue is better on the 42 and really 4 band eq is kinda too much imo.

Never use the FX send & return but the interface is very intuitive on the 42 (but you already knew that).
