Love Poundin' Sensation Windmill Sessions 12 December(deep, melodic progressive/trance)

Windmill Sessions 12 December

Last mix of the year, just in time for the yuletide period! Big, beautiful melodies and wonderful production values in all the tracks in the mix. Get involved!! Ho-ho-ho!

Laura B-Midi A Minuit w/ Vibraphere-Yaku
This is a track I've had for a while now and have been toying with the idea of its inclusion since the start of these sessions! However, it finally sees the light of day and showcases beautiful French vocals and melancholic undertones.
Mango-Encanta
Mango continues to go from strength to strength, rich evocative melodies are the order of the day once more. Serene but stirring in equal measure.
Elusive pres. Ethos-Sicilian Flame
Warm, twangy melodies and crisp production values in the first of two tracks by Elusive in this mix.
Ned Hobbs-Series
A deeper and darker path is trodden now with a mysterious atmosphere throughout this track.
Elusive pres. Ethos-Red Moon
Injecting some groove-fuelled bassline action next. Twinkling guitar melodies and soothing chants wash over the driving rhythm.
Jozef Kugler-Turn Into
Evocative and quirky deep-progressive under-pinned by epic breakdowns.
Mango+Vaya-Nirvana
As if emerging from darkness to light, 'Nirvana' transports the listener up a gear into epic, melodic breaks.
Eurasian Siskin-Things I Never Told
Superb new track from Norway's Caps Lock Recordings with a clean, fresh feel-good factor.
Eurasian Siskin-Rosa Mystica
The second track by Eurasian Siskin complements the flow of the mix by melding well with the previous track. A slightly more up-tempo feel is emerging...
Keenan+Anderson feat. Tiff Lacey-Runaway (original dub mix)
Epic tune alert! Since the first listen I have been captivated by the beauty of this track. Its beauty lies in its subtle, gradual introduction of sparkly melodies and lush, goosebump-inducing pads.
Snake Sedrick-Border (mango remix)
Continuing the big emotional tracks is this spine-tingling remix by Mango. A driving electro backdrop is brought to life by that now familiar Mango melodic touch.
Gabriel Batz-Besoin D'Aimer (storyteller remix)
This track serves as a prelude to the massive closer, the calm before the storm! Understated, great 'filler' stuff by Storyteller as usual.
Liquid State feat. Marcella Woods-Falling (solarstone club mix)
A classic from a few years ago to wrap up the mix. Solarstone were bang-on form delivering a soaring, vocaltrance tune with a great soothing atmosphere to leave you with a smile on your face.

Write back to say whether it hit the spot or not

This is massive, but give me a couple of days to put up a proper review, please. Things are just so...hectic...right now. I'm beyond frustrated. But this mix helps!

Eurasian Siskin-Rosa Mystica
Keenan+Anderson feat. Tiff Lacey-Runaway (original dub mix)
Snake Sedrick-Border (mango remix)

These are all just ! Proper review this weekend, mate. This got me through a tedious day yesterday. Cheers for that.

Mixing is spot on, as usual.

As promised, proper review is finally ready. What a crazy, hectic week!

Love the opening track. I first heard this on Deeper Shades of Euphoria, mixed by Jay Burnett. It's just a great track. Right after the first fade, you can tell the next track is a Mango production. It just has that signature Mango sound that I've come to look for in your sets. It's a sound that is introspective but dreamy. Your description is apt. Love the subtle piano melody in this track. Sicilian Flame picks up the pace a bit with its kick and bassline. The melody is indeed "twangy" and works well with the bassline. The mix into Series is relatively quick, but it works well here. The melody with the xylophone sound is unique. The guitar melodies in Red Moon start subtly then build with the chants. Love how the two work together in this track. I found myself turning up the volume here. Next up is Turn Into and your discription of "quirky" is apt. I really don't know how else to describe this track. The vocal in the breakdown intrigues me for some reason, though. Nirvana brings us back to that introspective Mango sound, and the piano in this is gorgeous. Loving every minute of this track. Indeed, we're back in the light now. Okay, here we go. Things I Never Told is where this mix takes off for me personally. We're hitting peak time, and this is just the track to get us ready. So uplifting and a lot going on in this track. Rosa Mystica continues the peak time drive, and it does indeed mix well with Things I Never Told. Love the "wavy" melody in this track. Maybe that's a poor way to describe it, but this track explodes the mix! Runaway is a masssive track, but I can't help but wonder what this sounds like with the vocals. Driving trance, this stuff! Border just blows my mind right out, and the Mango treatment is just what is called for. Love the mix into this! So uplifting and evocative. This is the track of the mix for me, thanks for introducing me to this gem. Being a Storyteller fan since your first mix, I really like Besoin D'Aimer. That first breakdown hits the spot. Wrapping up, you can't go wrong with anything from Solarstone.

Mint mix, mate. This got me through a very tedious week. Thank you for a year's worth of great mixes that delivered every time.

....Ok from now on I will get you to do the descriptions for the tracks! You really humble me man with great, descriptive and passionate reviews like this, makes the practice and love put in all worthwhile!

To address the points you made:

-Didn't know that Laura B was on that compilation! I got that track free on the front cover CD of one of my mums lifestyle magazines ages ago! Weird how tracks end up getting licensed randomly. It's a beautiful, haunting track anyway.
-Your descriptions of all the tracks are spot-on sir! Twangy melodies all the way.
-The Eurasian Siskin Ep really stood out for me too, genuinely exciting progressive trance of an ilk that doesn't really exist anymore. Was a treat hearing these tracks for the 1st time, I'm hoping for more work by this artist!
-About Runaway I take your point about the dub, infact I wanted a vocal mix of it too. Though not the vocals by Tiff Lacey which are a bit samey. I heard a version of this track on a Yvel and Tristan mix recently (in the tracklisting forum of this site I believe) which had vocals which fitted perfectly and complemented the track superbly, spine-tingling let me assure you! Not sure if it was an accapella, alternative mix or what but it sounded brilliant. I will continue to hunt down that particular version, because it was one of the best tracks I've heard this year. In any case the original dub mix was a good compromise.

Cheers for listening so carefully my man! Hears to another year of mixes hopefully! Windmill Sessions mark 2

Glad you approve mate!

I'm not too sure about how you convert the CUE sheet...don't use them myself, just whack the info needed up on here because people often ask for it.

Can anyone else help?
