Suggestions and Comments!

Hey guys,

As some of you may have noted, I have been appointed the new mod of this section. I know the moderation of the stickies and threads this forum has been relatively stagnant for the last little while and am here to try and change some of that!

In this thread I'd like to take some of the suggestions about how I can make this forum better for everyone.

All non serious suggestions and unrelated posting will be deleted.

Please do not start debates in this thread and if you have a conflicting suggestion, post it. I will evaluate all of them and try to come to a logical conclusion. If you can't hold something back, send me a PM and I will try to work it out.

Hopefully Luke Terry and I can help make these forums better. I myself already have some ideas but would like to hear from you guys.

Cheers,

Greg

Already in the works.

start sticky threading popular sets, and link them to the front page, if anyone still uses it?

i think stickying popular sets will make it really hard for non popular sets to get noticed as easily. However, a monthly sticky, like a thread of the month or something, may work-

More on this soon.

That would sort of defeat the purpose of stickying good sets wouldn't it?

(i know we've heard it all before but believe me this time please) TA is currently being totally overhauled. one of the suggestions ive put forward for the revamped front page with lots of new content is a monthly set made by one of the dj's in here, hosted on the front page in the live set downloads.

Have a major obvious sticky telling people not to advertise their damn radio/internet radio shows here and direct them to the correct thread/forum for them to do so. And make it SUPER obvious.

A sticky with the top 5 mixes along with the tracklist and whatnot in this section. How those mixes are chosen can be based on the amount of comments each mix gets, although there are some good mixes that go unnoticed.

Or you could just put the top 4 mixes and give a spot for a not-so-popular DJ whose mixing/tracklist/etc. looks promising.

We are most likely going to have a top "1", as Coup mentioned which will be featured as a sticky here as well on the main TA page.

I like this idea, I just don't know how easy it would be. There are SOO many mixes posted on this site, it would be impossible for me to listen to them all, and there are most definetely mixes which are good but aren't necessarly my taste either. I don't have any idea about how I could pick these mixes, and if I was to do something like this one of the major conditions would have to be that it is properly hosted. If its going to get a lot of hits, there's no way yousendit similar will suffice.

I know Del (Swamper) would have to be the one to impliment this, but here is my idea. Too many people are bumping their own threads. Why not make all threads created in this forum un-bumpable?

For example... I post a new mix.

I have to wait until someone else posts a comment in that thread before I can reply. This way, if your mix either a.)sucks, or b.)gains no attention - then it stays where it belongs, in the bottom of the barrel.

everyone bumps their own thread, its sorta part of it. You'll notice however people who bump their thread multiple times dont get the replies... so it works itself out.

I don't see it as a problem really- if you see a thread where it does look like its becoming a problem, let me know. I just don't think its a big enough issue for it to matter.

Sort out some sort of voting system on the mixes! Bit like a poll maybe!!

Posted by djx2 on Sep-30-2006 10:29:

Also start issuing bans to the people who are obviously using illegal tunes!!

And by 'fire' I meant, give a $20 gift certificate to BCF for doing an outstanding job.

Mix Genres

I tend to download a lot of mixes, but sometimes I get a mix that isn't into the particular sub-genre I'm into. Could you make it a requirement for posters to disclose their particular mix genre in their post subject?
