Ahh sorry man, not feelin this one, sometimes we attach great emotion to something for oblique personal reasons others just wont pick up on. I get really uplifted looking up into pine trees, people think I'm mad!

im going for a 90's trance type feel ive not added any effects etc to it yet so it will sound dry how does the mix sound etc?

The mix sounds clear and competent but it lacks any personal love as for me it sounds like GM sounds. This in turn makes it have a clinical lack of atmosphere and so is not danceable.

I quite like the simplicity of the production - quite clean and pretty oldschool sounding. I know this is trance addict, but I would try it a bit slower, maybe 130bpm - the track is a like a sped up deep house track almost

hasn't got the most satisfying low end

brave sounds in the breakdown - it almost works but need a bit more epik - does feel like a completely different track to me.

at 3:55 or so the bass elements of your drone are out of key (which ruins the rest of the track)

has some good bits

I've done a bit of an update -

has a vocal, a bit of jim morrison, a bit lifted from a track I've got on vinyl from about 20 years ago! but I think it fits

let me know what you think - this still needs some work

cheers

really good and clear mix, I like the drop, it all comes together well there. Felt a little basic in the intro for me.

Always had a secret thing for hardstyle, so here's a new one. I have vocals to do and the last second just prior to the drops needs doing.

I made this kick using Strobe, not sure if it's right.

Your subs always seem to work well as always. There is some resonance in some synths though which really seem little bit irritating. like the 0:16 one.

Nice man! Really liking this. Even though i know nothing about very little about hardstyle, i really like your melodies and sound choices in this one!

The 1:20 breakdown was amazing!

Wish i was that good creating kicks, hardstyle has much room for them though but i think it works quite well. Maybe just a tad more low end in it could do justice aswell.

Just a short loop one of my newest work. The midi section of the arp bass needs to be cleaned, but is it doing any good?

AND i know this aint the best place to ask, but my Axiom is fucked up. I got new rig and when i start live 9 it works perfectly, but when i start sending any midi info constantly it stops responding within like 1 minute or so. Anyone familiar with Axiom series had similar problems? Asked on abletons support too, which leads to nowhere.

R Butlers reply:

Thanks - I reckon you might be right about a bit more low end, and possibly some warmth on that kick. I don't anything about hardstyle really, I think a vocal will round this off better though. I can imagine a lot of you guys hate my distorted somewhat crushed sound here, not sure whether to tone it back a bit?

YOUR TRACK Domesty - I think you are very good at slowly revealing your songs, they slowly creep up on me in a pleasing way. Mix and sounds seem ok to me, but personally speaking I'm wondering if your KICK can go down a tone or two, so it players a lower note? You may want to see if this gells with the bass a little better. You might want to add a little pitch bend to it - its impossible to say without actually experimenting, it will be a case of sucking and see. Just strikes me that for my taste the kick is slightly off key.

Nice chilled techhouse/deephouse vibe going on. The mix sounds tight, it seems very well balanced on my end. The part around 2:30 is really nicely done. I just miss some tension in the rythm/buildups to keep me excited for the rest of the track.

I like it. Makes me eager to hear the rest. Start expanding this concept .

---------------------

It's been some time since I last produced. It's the same old story over and over again. Forced myself into this as I accepted a remix for Nueva, a label I quite like.

I made 2 concepts for the same release and will probably finish the second concept in the player sadistically titled as the first, even though I started on it after the other - Are you still getting this?

"Nuevarmx2" - The file I originally started the remix on is moreso based on the original track wheras "Nuevarmx" is based on a kick, hat & snare only project (it had no other sounds in there) I had lying around because I like the sounds together. I'll try and finish them both but my focus is on "Nuevarmx" . Both track produced in headphones only thus far so I have no clue how they translate. Will try and fix that later on.

I think the second one in the player is better. First one didn't grab me when I listened. I don't know if the music fits the vocal though? The music is real tech-proggy and the vocal is more deep/garage to me. I assume the label is looking for the vocal to be in the remix.

Do you mix into a specific mastering chain or do you add some mastering after you exported the track?

Posted by Storyteller on Oct-01-2014 09:58:

There's nothing on the master on these exports .

Sounding good man..Bass is very present and smooth. Mix is quite good but the genre is not my cup of tea so technically everything fits.

@storyteller lovely stuff, love the use of the vocal in both tracks, track 2 has a nice gritty edge to it.....

Robotrance. It would be nice if you'd set up a Soundcloud of some kind. Downloading from these types of sites is not very encouraging.

Other than that I can say it sounds demoscene-ish. Like a sort of game music for a futuristic indie race game. A lot of cool sounds and quite musical. Well done.

You could've just shared it on your regular account and made the track itself private . Or do you want to hide your true identity?

Like nobody knows who it is already

I have to say I quite like it. Its put together really well and has a variety of stuff in there to keep you interested. I agree its suited to game music, was thinking exactly that before I read your comment.
