Thanks mfitterer1! Yes its very relaxin little room.
Palm these are genelec 8040 so i think its 6.5 inch woofer. 8050(8") would be too big for my room. At least Funkagenda said these are the best monitors for producing club music, so i think you cant go wrong with them. I just love these monitors, they have very clean and neutral sound. I would say there is one downside, at least i cannot listen them very long, but i dont know if its just me.
I did demo smaller 8020 and 8030 but they have too weak lows. But i recommend demoing them somewhere before buying. I have to say one thing , i remember i wasnt that impress when i demo them, because the neutral sound, but im glad i bought them. My mixes sound better....i think

Originally posted by palm hmm, didnt like that u said u get tired of them. ive heard that about genelecs before. i think is because of metal dome HD-driver maybe. ill have to take a good listen to them. |

Originally posted by Notle Yeah it might be the tweeter, i heard people say genelec have sharp highs. But i dont think its a huge problem if you dont work 8 hours every day with them. |
i envy you guys with all your rack gear in front of you. im trying to think of some way to set that up.
YOu cleaned and got rid of the pot pipe.
Wish I had a nice open space like that... you should probably get some acoustic panels, though.

New studio pictures. New equipment, new paint, new acoustic treatment.
very sweet eric j
Nice eric!
No Andy?
Had one ordered and Alesis told me that the original ship date had been pushed back indefinitely. No reasons why or any ETA. SO I thought about it and picked up a Virus instead. Based on my needs and working style, he Virus is a better choice for me at this stage.

Originally posted by alanzo I wonder if they're stopping production? I doubt it, they do a run when enough orders come in, maybe it will just take a very long time. You should have just gotten one on ebay ... they're always one in great condition there. I just hope the virus is worth it for you. |
I think i'd be more in to the virus if I haven't already heard it 10 thousand times. Whenver I play with that synth, I always come across something cheesy and lame that I've heard way too many times to ever want to use. I don't get that at all with my other instruments.
I think I'd also like the TI more if the hardware interface wasn't practically useless -- especially compared to the ease of using the software.
I've actually found a lot of usage out the sounds. The Charlie May soundbank in particular (what up with those patch names?), showcases some really crazy sounds that I have not heard anywhere else. Real modern Sasha/John Digweed/Bedrock type sounds in that techno/progressive vein. This fits in perfect with the type of sound I have been making lately. Simplified, stripped down tech house and techno with a splash of progressive. Its a very elegant, mature sound that is far removed from the sugar-coated trance I used to make.
Its definitely to each his own. I can see how the hardware interface can be rendered useless for some, but I like having a dedicated knob for each major function. Its difficult to turn two knobs at once with a Software Instrument.
For me, it's turning out to be the best synth purchase I have ever made, simply because of its versatility, ease of use and extensive library of sounds. The wavetables are really cool when paired with the extensive mod matrix. Throw in the arp and you can get some really cool textures.
