-- Sony MDR-7506 Review

I have a lovely pair of 580's that are sitting on my ears right now.
But for DJing I require closed back, since I am broke I will need to fix them myself. I don't like borrowing other headphones, however I did at a recent gig and really really enjoyed my mates Technics 1210 headphones. Tight punchy bass and lots of isolation. Served very well indeed.
With the repair in mind could any pro's shed light on the best way to avoid butchering my cans?
Merci!

I know about the diagram. And I also know that Sony charge $60 for the cable, and will only provide it if you get it replaced by them, which involved sending it off. Which takes a few weeks, glad I'm not professional depending on that kinda shit service, all my other cans have wire that clips in and out, and can be bought from the internet and delivered next day |

And Tony, I had to find this out through internet work, I called two local Sony retailers and they didn't even have the headphones on their database let alone the spare parts. In fact they didn't even know what to suggest other than google it, I'm guessing it's cause I didn't show them my I'm a professional card though. Fuck. |

Originally posted by Freak Well no not really I know a very large amount of Djs and engineers- studio, live, monitor, club and FOH- and these are pretty much universally very highly respected cans. Very few people have a bad word to say about them. And this isnt people at the local ritzy- this is high end A list stuff and people at the top of their game. I could tell you which clubs I work at most of the time, and which respected artists i am lucky enough to count as friends but Im not really comfortable posting it on here for obvious reasons. Thats not intended as a 'wow look at me I have a big nob' type post as im really not that sort of person, its just merely pointing out that very few people do think they suck ass. Should be easily available over the phone with no sending off required. Who did you call? Try here- http://www.trewaudio.com/store/prod...p?productid=907 No its because they are US model only- any sold over here are imports and not via official sony stores. They are also aimed at the professional market not the consumer market, which is why you cant buy them in currys and dixons and the sony centre like the mdrv700s. Of course, if you dont like them, thats your lookout... |
shit fones. dont be fooled by all the lovers here, they really are bad fones.

i absolutely love the 7506's. i've had sennheiser hd-series headphones ever since 2003 that i liked. but a few years ago i bought a pair of the sony mdr7506's and the sound is amazing.
i have to replace my monitor speakers so i use the 7506's for producing and they're amazing for subtractive EQ'ing, they're great for everything really. it sucks that the foamy headphone cover splits if you squeeze them but that's just cosmetic. i've used alot of headphones around the $100-150 price range and IMO the 7506's are by far the best of everything i've tried. crystal clear sound, i can hear every detail and have a much more flat frequency response than other comparable headphones.
my first pair of 7506's went bad (it was out of warranty). i picked up another pair of 7506's with an extended guitar center warranty and swore off all other headphones. i can wear them for several hours comfortably too. my production literally came to a halt when my 7506's broke, i refused to use the sennheiser's because they don't produce nearly as accurate of a frequency response. don't get my wrong i like my sennheiser's for DJ'ing but for production i need the 7506's.
I find the 7506's bass lacking when used for djing imo. My ultrasone dj signature just hits the nail on the board when it comes to low frequencies.
Er, 5 year bump guys?
...and if you like the 7506's, try buying the 7509HD's next time
Rofl @ the people flaming these cans jesus, what a bunch of tonedeaf ****s. I'd buy it alone for the build quality.
I have 2 and they broke fairly easily. They also weren't made to dj with so basically the peeps that agree with me dj.
Ya but you also weigh 300 lbs.

Originally posted by clay 7506 or v6 as mine are called are great for djeing. I know I have been bashing these headphones in other threads, maybe also in this one; but I may have been unclear on what I mean. They suck for production/monitoring as they aren't at all flat and honest. But they are rock solid and make everything sound nice and smooth, just what a dj need to avoid tinnitus but still being able to enjoy his transitions at loud volumes. They are the opposite of the 700dj which is probably the most dangerous headphones out there. V6 is great for djeing, but sucky for production. |
Well flame me but I like rely on the best drivers when mixing live so i'm good with my signature one pro and plus I love quality over quantity

update
On my latest set of cans (I gift them out when the ear pads get sloppy) I decided to not go new and get the beyerdynamic velour pads this time, I should have done this sooner.
