That's brave (or crazy). I have a strict no-liquid-within-5ft-of-my-gear policy.

I was thinking of painting a white line around mine (half circle) like the 3 point line on a basketball court

I spilled beer on the upper octave of my Andromeda's keyboard. Now those keys don't work. The rest do, just not the upper octave. I can probably fix it with a simple cleaning. I wouldn't be surprised if the triggers are just stuck.

The notes trigger fine through MIDI... so whatever. It's a four hour project that is almost on the bottom of my priority list.

I'll bet that's exactly the problem. The sugar in the beer is probably gumming up the works. You might want to take the time to get in there before too long, though. The biggest danger liquid poses to electronics is rust, which can be incredibly damaging if left unchecked.

Good point. I guess I'll do it this weekend...

I rearranged pretty well so I thought I'd post an update. Quite nice, I must say. See where the feather-duster is? That's where the Tetra is going to go. I may get a 2nd Pulse to put on top of the ATC... but I have to use the one I already have first.

Alan, what's the funky black thing under the right monitor with the whole heap of knobs?

Posted by raconteur on Aug-23-2009 07:06:

get a rack to keep your racksynths in man, dont keep on your monitors!
i envy those monitors lol. How do u like to program the synth on the left monitor? Ive heard it sounds cool but its hard to program?

I do have a rack. A huge 25U rack on wheels. I didn't like using it in this current room, though... not enough space for it. I would just kind of put the rack off to the side and never use anything inside.

The one with the crazy colors? That's a Studio Electronics ATC-1. I haven't dived into it much, but did manage to program a few sounds. I haven't found it difficult to program at all. It's quite a simple instrument. It sounds awesome. A bit stronger than the Andromeda. But not enough to warrant 4 or 8 of them (OMEGA).

could u post some samples of it? it looks so cool! is it single part only right? i hate multitimbral synths. im looking for one synth really to make some baselines and some acid. And moog seems abit too limited for me.

Why do you say the Moog is limited? The ATC-1 doesn't have any more features than a Little Phatty..

isnt moog only single voice, single osc, and LP filter only?
maybe i should read up on it a little lol but i thought it was a pure bass-synth. anyhow its expensive and big and i dont want anything with keys on it. That ATC-1 is pure analog right?

Posted by Owsey on Aug-23-2009 14:56:

Alan, how do you mount your foam just out of curiosity? Are they the same panels you had in the room you used before? Or is it still the same room?

nice setup Alan!.....but you've got to move the ATC and the other gear off the speakers. They have transformers in them that create a magnetic field which can be very bad news for the twins over the long run.

If you can't put the anywhere else, then at least put them under the screens.

As for the broken keyboard, I did a guide to fix keyboards here:

@ortofonchild - nice setup too....Macpro, Lavry black, Virus KC and Dynaudio BM5A's. Must sound very clear indeed.

hahaha...I used to have my xbox on the same desk-unit that my studios on...bad idea for me, productivity slipped right around the time Fallout 3/FIfa 09 came out. Had to move it!
