However it's bullshit when you say pitch accuracy is the most important thing. I'd rather have a quality laser that passes the focus cd test fine. If a CD player won't swallow your cd's anymore, I really wouldn't give a shit about pitch accuracy . Then comes the necessary feautures (such as instant start, loops)... OK, the loops aren't really important, but you'd be suprised how many shit CD players don't have instant start. Then comes antishock, and THEN I'd start worrying about pitch accuracy |
all those features you named are a GIVEN on any halfway decent cd player. if you want to be cute about it, then the number 1 quality of a cd player is that the power button works. When looking at cd players, I bet that almost everyone on here will look at how precise the pitch can get first and foremost. The fact that Numark hasn't figured this out yet, is sad.

Hahahaha, I like your sense of irony
. Even though the number one turntable in the world (SL-1200) doesn't have a decent powerbutton
And the part about an accurate laser, you'd be suprised how many cd players fail on the focus cd test. The Technics throws in the towel at 1,8mm damage (which is pretty low), some crappy (dual) OEM CD players are terrible in the test and the Pioneers, Denons and Numarks play the disc all the way down (which is excellent).
However, I must agree with your last opinion. The CDX has multiple pitch settings, so it means the fader used for the pitch can be pretty accurate. So I wouldn't see the problem making the CD player more accurate at lower pitchrange, like the Pioneers are.
However I can still mix pretty damn easy with 0,1% accuracy, I've done it for more then 5 years :P.
There are more things Numark hasn't figured out yet. Making good turntables is one thing

1000 times more useless...imho
(I'll take analog pitch precision over 0.1% fuckshit digital pitch any day)

actually.... the digital display only shows precision to .1% but the actual pitch adjustment IS analog. i was reading this on the numark message board where people had the same question in doubt of the ttx's precision.

i cant mix with a digital display. its like i have to see the digits move before i think its matched. plus i prefer the feel of the technics pitch slider

I'm inclined to believe the above replies seeing as I own a pair and have absolutely no problem with the decks holding their pitch during a mix.

Ok, I looked at these once and didn't think much of the pics, but looking at them the second time I now realize that all of your gear is sitting on top of the stove!!! You must really have a forgiving wife if she lets you take over the stove with your equipment. I'd just be afraid of someone turning the burners on and torching most of the gear.
Posted by Briden on Sep-18-2004 20:03:
yeah, she was gone for the weekend so i did that. also, if you notice, i took the burners out of the stove so that they couldn't get turned on automatically.

2 x Shurewhite Labels
1 x NAD 712 (Stereo Reciever)
1 x NAD 114 (Pre-Amp for recording into my computer)

i really need a new desk. Do you have a link, or name i can find it by at ikea?
EDIT: this one looks sort of like it.
http://www.ikea.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=3&langId=-15&catalogId=10101&productId=25905
Anyone have any suggestions? Besides building one myself...

Yes u are right!!....I like that desk and all the accessories (which are pretty cheap) u can get for it. Also the adjustability of it is cool...and it wasn't that expensive.....

If I remember right it is called the Jerker series desks. Just check out the home office section of Ikea, and u should be able to find it....the really cool thing is the height of the table and shelves are all adjustable....if u notice in my pict there are no wires, it is because I cut a hole in the table right behind the mixer so the wires can go through, (I'm a neat freak....I hate messy wires!!).....
Jerker Table
I also have the 2 swing side shelves too, for when my friends bring over final sctrach to put their laptops on..

I'm moving in a couple months and I totally want to get a computer desk but with a lot of them if you put them together, take em apart to move, then put em back together they're real wobbly and shit. are ikea desks like that?
