its not hard at all once you get the bpms in order.
My rig . . .
2x Technics 1200MK2B
2x Road Ready ATA cases
2x Shure M44-7s
Vestax PCV-275
Sony MDR-V700
RANE Serato Scratch Live v1.1.3
VAIO laptop optimized for SSL
Dell tower for recording and ripping purposes
Carver pm420 power amplifier 210watts x 2
2x Carvin PAs
. . . and loving it . . .
opianstate:
That's a nice setup you have there. I say that because I have the exact same equipment. I have the Technics MK2's in black, the PCV-275 mixer, and the same Road Ready turntable cases. However, I have the Whitelabel carts, the MDR-V7506 headphones, a Road Ready mixer case, and the Alesis active monitors which are different than what you have. Damn the Technics look sexy in black, don't they? Especially next to the gold Vestax mixer. Haha, good stuff. Hope you enjoy your setup as much as I enjoy mine.
Nice poster BTW.
yeah, that's a sweet setup! i got the same as well, cept silver M3Ds, and just a basic stereo system no PA yet, that would piss my neighbours off too much.
I'm plannin on getting SSL too, how do you like it? on second thought PM me or something, no need cluttering up this board with talking instead of pics of setups.
here's a really bad shot of my setup for right now:
Well, I just purchased the Technics SL-DZ1200's today to add to my setup. I have played around with them and have been really happy. They will be setup side by side with my Technics M3D's (not pictured here).
Pioneer DJM-600
2 Technics SL-1200M3D's
2 Technics SL-DZ1200's

Just a quick question, how much were those dz1200's?

I played with a lot of CD players... I test products. So far, here's my liking of professional CD players in the upper money range (in order):
1. Pioneer CDJ-1000MKII
2. Numark CDX
3. Denon DN-S5000
4. Technics SL-DZ1200

I am assuming he rated it that high for the MANY other features that eh CDX has.... however you do have a point regarding the pitch... I thought they were pretty sweet CD players, however WAY to big for my taste... I would prefer one of the Denon's, or CDJ 800's... maybe 1000MK2's... I haven't seen enough on the Technics so really know whether I would like them... and there isn;t a store in town that has them on demo yet, so I can't even go look at them...
*dial up internet = limited research time*
I dont want to make the cdx sound that bad. I think the cdx is an amazing player, because it pretty much delivers what turntabilists have been wanting for a couple of years. But as far as mixing is concerned, its hardly an option. It would sort of be like buying a giant cdj100.

Originally posted by DjVash I do. They suck ass. Technics has no experience whatsoever in building CD players, which is what this product proves. If you want a REAL vinyl cd player, get a CDX. Those things are REALLY amazing. |

Actually, I think you would be surprised at how well built they are and how well they handle. Most people that knock them have only seen them in a video or played on one at a music store. The fact is, with a 0.05% pitch adjustment it hangs out quite well with the Pioneer's 0.02% (which is at +/- 6%, vs technics +/- 8%). It is more than sufficient for beatmatching and long mixes. At any rate, for vinyl diehards like me, the Technics was the best route to take in order to make a comfortable transition to using CDs. Pioneers in my opinion are the front runner for a high quality, fine tuned CD player that doesn't cater to a vinyl-only type of audience. |

Originally posted by DjVash Sorry dude but that's totally bullshit. I told you this deck has perfect vinyl emulation. If you say this player is not for mixing, you're practically saying vinyl isn't for mixing. This thing has the size of a turntable, so does it matter? If you're saying it's too big and I don't have that much space, then you're making sense. There are cheaper alternatives too you know, but this is definetly the one that perfectly feels like vinyl. Take a look at DJ Firewire, apparantly this person knows what he uses. For vinyl die-hards like you? You obviously haven't tried the CDX. One thing straigt: The Technics was built for perfect vinyl emulation. They did NOT succeed, e.g. the slipmat used sucks ass. If you want REAL vinyl emulation, try the CDX. If you haven't and you think that the Technics kicks ass, you should slap yourself in the face and head to your dealer to try the CDX :P. |
I run the gearsection in a store, that's right.
And when it comes to 0,1 accuracy, you can mix with that. I agree when you say it's a shame it's not more (e.g. my CJD-800's are 0.05%, which is excellent) but I disagree when you say it's not for mixing. My old PT-2400's (very good decks though) go to 0.1% as well, and in the worst case scenario it falls out of sync in 45 seconds (which is more then enough to finish the mix).
So it might be a pain in the ass mixing with them on 4 decks, sure. But for those "vinyl addicts" that want a CD player for vinyls that are not (yet) released or sold out, this is definetly -the- solution.
I understand what youre saying. And just for fun heres a nice little thing that i got off of another forum (i forget which) Its by someone who uses the name "deft" so credit to him.
http://www.deft.dsl.pipex.com/Pitch.htm
Ofcourse you get that effect if you have 0,1% miss. However, with a pitch that is up to 0,1% accurate, you can miss up to 0,05%! (because if you need to pitch a record up to 0,07%, your miss is only 0,03% and NOT 0,07%!). And with a 0,05% miss, you can mix as long like 45 seconds, which is more then enough.
I hope this is clear, it's hard for me to explain in English.

Originally posted by zizack um, wrong. Thats like the BEST case scenario. This is one thing I am very passionate about...I am so baffled as to why all these big companies are putting out all these expensive cd players with all these useless features and they end up leaving out the most important one. I have a Pioneer CDJ1000 MK2, and that is one of the reasons why I love it....but if American Audio came out with a cd player tomorrow that had a .02% pitch increment, I would have one in a second as a 4th cd deck. Pitch accuracy is by far the most important quality on a cd deck. |
