Seems more and more I am testing all areas of EDM and this track seems to be yet another attempt at something more me.
I am in the beginning stages of this song and basically this is an intro,yet...I found myself at 1:40 before even a build,so..this is where it stands.
Any feedback greatly appreciated as always.
*note, I am definitely taking notice lately on big room and bass sounds...this shit isnt as easy as I thought it would be. How the hell does Seven lions and these guys make such huuuuge sounds.

On my crappy headphones which I use to listen music and stuff most of the time, your tune looks to be a bit to rich in highs which makes my ears a bit fatigue after a while, but hope is just me.

Here is my WIP again, I tried to take in consideration all your feedback and apply it, hope that with success

dont like the kick, too clicky or something

guess its a good start, a lot will depend on what kind of bass you put in

As far as this track beginning - very attractive so far but you definitely need to work your bass line in second part of your track as future of your production depends on your bass design skills.

Cheers

I totally agree, and this is making me nervous...lol
At the drop I have experimented with the arrangement and composition and am coming up short. I guess I am looking for something very sharp and poignant. Something of a stab on the 1st and 3rd measure (which I have only experimented with using tape stop) which I dont want to get to carried away with by over using the tape stop. Kinda stumped on my approach actually
Thanks for taking the time to listen guys...really appreciate the feedback as well

Build your structure, design your sound and then we can start looking at schematics of your transitions -> but potential is definitely there

Cheers,

I like the vocals a lot! I think you should have the word "heart" loop at the end of the phrase into a build up.

Like "colors of your heeaaaaaa" with the snare that comes in later entering there.

I'm excited to hear what you do for your bass sounds. I can probably provide a lot of advice there.

I finished the track I posted earlier.

although If I could change something a bit - it would be this part around 2:15 which I was thinking about slowing and quiet it down a bit with some addition of more melodic break for more cross platform attractiveness of this track -> just my $0.02

Still very strong track man, congrats !!!

Yea dood...diggin it. Me, when it comes to percussion and tracks I am kind of a maniac for the odd details. I can't help but listen to tracks (especially really good grooving tracks) and not think of some kind of additive to the percussion. In this case, I am totally hearing around the transition of the 1:30 area a detailed flamming hi hat, or at least something really crisp to break the lower frequency.
Pretty solid man, Im envious

Scorpadio I missed your track - are you gonna re-post it?

Good work Sean, there's only one taste issue for me, and it might me only me, but in the highs I find its as if you've passed them through icing sugar or sherbet - they sound too fizzy and washed out all together, but again others may love this tonality, but none the less I wanted to mention it because us producers sometimes might not be aware of something and find it useful to have it pointed out.

Constantin I'm with Evo, that kick is not right. For me it's sounds like it's not part of the track, not gelled in. Not a mixing issue, you need a different kick.

I have to say I'm not really sure what you're referring to. Maybe you're hearing the saw & distant arpeggio I have in the background of some of the synths in the drop just to fill in the dead space.

I feel like there is a lot of uniformity in the track. Not much contrast. Both through out the track and in any one moment. It is a similar soundset throughout, a lot of saw waves (I think), not much variety in synthesis. Don't think I hear any chords, just single notes. I be interested to hear like a piano or strings in a breakdown sometime. Something mellow, to contrast with the metallic electronic feel of everything. Also, I feel like there are a lot of high's and the frequencies decrease from there to almost no sub. Obvious talent in the overall track. A lot of rhythmic variety. The snare is really cool.

There are hardly any saw waves aside from behind the bass synths in the drop. The lead is FM8. And.... there's definitely a lot of sub. Haha.

Thanks for the advice though.

Is that a parody ? I mean you aren't an idiot, you know every single sound is a cliche , a really annoying high pitched cliche that everyone will say on 1 year , what the fuck were we thinking. I don't get how you can not realize this sounds like everything else even a year ago.

And like just like modern talking was over done, fm8 is the new massive. When you can find tutorials , it is something that was over 6 months ago.

I didn't use FM8 for any of the bass sounds, I used it for the lead in the breakdown.

As far as the rest of your comment goes, I know it's not some earth shattering, radically new thing. I never said it was. I made it because I like it.

I prefaced the post with:

"I started a new drumstep track. I know that generally doesn't fly here but what the hell. I figured I'd post it anyway."

THIS JUST IN: Tranceaddict tightwads don't like dubstep!

I think this is the first track of seans I've listened to from start to finish. Its still not my thing at all but I recon its way better than others he has posted. His mixing sounds a lot better as well imo his sounds seem to be sitting in the right place now and have that edge they were missing before.

I cant say it's generally my style either, but I enjoy it. I agree that the sounds feel fuller now then earlier stuff I've heard from you.

Maybe you should listen to Caleb about adding some pads or something. Can't hurt to experiment a bit more to see what comes up.
But it definetely works for me as it is.

I agree, the kick has to go. It sticks out too much. Hard to judge the rest with that there. But I like the melodic content and the break is very very good I think. The drop is good too, I like the sound of the main melody.

But something less klicky as kick so we can turn up the volume a bit would be nice

do what you like, but filter what you do in that if you know it has been done , don't do it. I mean think about the release scedule and how much more annoying it will be. Those high pitched squeals, they suck. I mean they just fucking blow. Focus on the rythm , the groove and for fuck sakes stop using sounds for the sake of being interesting. this genre is just ADD personfied as music. i love some tracks, but fuck is almost all of it preset djing from massive. And if you didnt' realize it which i don't think is the case, listen to more music.

Curious, I am wondering what entails another person having "horrendous taste"? Is this a personal opinion? Or are you stating fact.
If you are stating fact then on what grounds is it fact? Im confused because the annual beatport report came out and damn if it (dubstep/bass) was not the most downloaded genre on beatport.
I am also a little confused as to how, if it is so horrendous, that 18 out of the top 20 (DJMag)DJ's have done a bass or dubstep track in some way or the other.
In essence I am finding it difficult to comprehend your statement.

Posted by Constantin on Mar-22-2014 08:46:

This are just trends, numbers don't mean quality all the time. A lot of stuff out there is addressed to the lowest common denominator (and I ain't talking only about the music). I don't like dubstep either, it sounds like explosive poisons 4 bit diarrhea to me, but that's me and my narrowed tastes in music, won't force everybody to believe in what I believe. As for TranceElevation this forum is called tranceaddict afterall, don't be surprised to see hard core trance fans here xD. Now go go go back to the topic, post your WIPs ^^

PS Thanks a lot for the feedback, I f hate kicks and still learning my new cans, still can't afford monitors

If you can't comprehend it, you'll never comprehend why things like J.Bieber or Ellie Goulding even exist on this planet.

And yeah, taste shouldn't judged, but I really had to say it. It just shows how revolting that music is to me.
