I'm a bit unsure on this one tbh, I agree with richard I don't think it's as good as others you have posted lately. Then again not much going on in it atm so maybe if you post another sample when your a bit further on I can comment better.

My only slight criticism is the bass is just a tiny bit too strong, I think you should shave just a fraction off it. A little bit of parallel compression might help bring the kick out a little more as well, it needs a bit more Grrr! Awesome job

Any thoughts on this?

Is it worth trying to make a track out of? How does the mix sound etc..?? Cheers

The melody is something personal, an extension of your personality. How the fuck can you ask something so blatantly stupid?
I'd understand tips about the mix, but the melody is the core, the heart, the character of a trance track.
If you ask me, this is the shittiest, cheesiest and most pathetic melody I've heard this year. But this is me, and we are different. If you like it, go for it without caring about my taste in terms of melodies, if you're a depersonalized amoeba as I suppose you are, then obey and succumb to my views.

Who's pissed on your chips? Where did I say does my melody sound good?

I'm more than sure I asked about that but your retarded answer contains no fucking help at all, and there's me thinking this is a thread for posting wips and asking for feedback.

Actually like your base melody so far as has good/nice drive and energy in it but I would definitely rethink sound and melody of this pluck which you use at 0:28 -> doesn't do justice for what you develop so far.

Cheers,

Darek

Thanks Darek I'll see what I can come up with tomorrow

@andy28 - for me its like a lot of this style of stuff, just too muddy cos of that supersaw, the squarish melody is ok if a little cheezy - the bass is nice, reminds me of gouryella

id try to dry up that supersaw lead a bit in order to clean up the mix - remember if everything is wide then nothing is wide

Is implicit. If the melody wasn't an issue, you wouldn't ask if it is worth continuing.

Anyway, regarding the mix, there is too much energy concentrated in the center. The track appears to be locked in a box. You could use reverb better to open the doors of the stereo field. Bear in mind that leads, pads etc. carry mainly mid-high frequencies, which could take away definition from the kick and the bassline.

Also, did you by any chance low-passed, even if slightly the kick/bass?

Dig the vibe fully! The transition points around 45-55..love it.
Then from the low pass to the hook...really dig this man.
Arrangement is spot on.
Production sounds great imo. The hook around the 3:00 mark could use a tad bit of eq'ing? Seems a little flat for such an open groove. Almost as if it is more accompanying to the bass than a higher frequency's I associate with a hook.
Overall - Nice freakin work man, sounds awesome!

Here is a attempt to a deep groove
mixed live, the effort is in the little things, bouncing around in the back-end, you either find it utterly boring, or a 13min trip.
You can download to listen in HQ
curious whether the vibe gells or not.

Yeah I tried a few different things with the saws to get them to try and sit right I know what you mean I just don't want them too much in your face, will try and improve that. As for the the squares I'll probably try and do something with the sound and notes.. Thanks

The two of you have done a good job, well done.. I'm also not overly keen on the lead but it's not that bad. Everything else works well good sound design and mix although some synths do sound a bit thin and too clean. Keep at it!

I absolutely love how punchy the bass line is!

I think the synth in the breakdown that starts at 1:30ish is a little too simple. It doesn't have much character. It's too clean.

I'd actually say the latter half of the track is where it starts to lose direction for me. I had hoped it was going to have a huge impact into something powerful and big but it's very gentle.

It works though. And I mean, it depends what your direction was and where you wanted to take it. It could be very purposeful.

I may have posted a version of this before, but I'm just fiddling with the balance a little to get an ear on these K271's I'm using. Oddly I've got the K701's as well and although I swear they're better and more detailed I seem to be getting better results on the 271's. Weird.

Anyhoo, just tweaking levels etc before I pull this out into a full track.

That throaty bass line is fucking dope.

Here's what I've got going, I posted an earlier version a while ago but this is approaching full length now.

I like the breakdowns. The climaxes don't particularly grab me from an arrangement standpoint. I don't really feel like the they have a direction. Also, maybe to much mid bass/mid elements at the climaxes (specifically the piano)? I like a lot of the drums you have going on, the reverse piano thing, and the ambient background noise starting about :30 when the piano is playing. It is a really nice soundset, the bass at the climax is huge, but I think the song needs a different direction at the climaxes. Maybe even something more amelodic, since the breakdowns are melodic and you have a great bass to make something really simple and energetic at the climax.
