Originally posted by RickyM More or less finished now, got speaker stands set up, sounds a lot better now than just on the desk...don't know what to get next, any recommendations? |
sweet setup, what program you using?
Not the most stylin' setup there is but gets the job done...
The receiver and an omni mic I use sometimes for measurements and recordings.
The desk, computer monitor, box, and left speakers.
The whole shebang.
The sub is under the desk, a horrible spot for it but the only place I could center it. And yeah the right speaker is too close to the corner but it's either that or in front of the window.
Sub bass is not directional, so your sub doesn't have to be centered
You would think setting up a sub would be easy but it's too involved to find a good spot for it. The only bad thing about having it down there is it resonates too much on D#1. Tracks in D or D# end up sounding louder than they really are. I just said "Fuck it, I'll buy headphones" and I'm pretty satisfied with them.
So placing monitors in front of windows in no good?
Damn
The window will reflect the mids and treble, and the bass won't be as powerful because the back wall reflects the bass that escapes the speakerbox. But most importantly it blocks the damn window
Well the window is huge (like 1.5m x 3.0m) so there's not much I can do. I was just reading that heavy curtains can help.
I guess I'll have to wait and see after I get them, and then just work around it.

Originally posted by echosystm Not necessarily. If you had rear ported speakers it would be a death trap. For front ported it should be "ok". |
