Lol alright fine, fuckers, I've removed the "genre(s) you're known for" column...
That was really more a reference for me so that I didn't assign you something you were already really good at.
Bah, missed the genre(s) that I am known for. But I am guessing it was house and downtempo.
Lol cool table, though, very nice.

I'm going to assign after signups are over. I'm not even sure if Jack and Jan are participating, as they didn't confirm whether or not they could. We might have more entries.
Throw it in a hat though. Don't assign, that's ghey.
Hmm..This sure does look interesting, feel like joinin, idk.

What's the method?
I used an RNG when I did secret santa for the c0r.
I'm curious as to what the genres I am known for... since I'm not terribly prolific on these boards.
I'll be gone to burning man until several days into the competition - who whomever genre's I get I would appreciate it if I could have a PM waiting with all the info i'll need!
also my veto is for anything/the closest to hardstyle that is picked (that would be hard house currently), because i have difficulty listening to it for more than 30 seconds.
Sorry, I'm still debating whether or I'll join or not. Time is going to be extremely tight in September, but I want to participate... So I'll debate it for another week

I actually contemplated joining for the first time but I didn't want to say I'm in prematurely only to change my mind by the end of the month. until then, this post shouldn't be taken seriously.
Why is everybody so fucking wishy washy about this challenge? A few years ago over 20 people signed up with reckless abandon. Sure, there were only like 65% of the signups that actually did it, but I can imagine that there won't be that poor of a showing this time.
If money is an issue, that's understandable. But if you claim you don't have enough time, I point you to the first page where it's listed that you have an entire month to do your mix! Unless you're leaving the country, I have a hard time believing that people don't have 3-4 hours to carve out in 30 days to research, purchase/download music, and record your mix.
To be honest, I don't see an incentive in being obligated to dabble with a genre I've been randomly given and have no interest in. On the positive note, this challenge could really force me to get out of my comfort zone and like something new.

That's why I implemented the veto mechanic. Get rid of a shit genre (most of the genres submitted already have been pretty solid) and replace with a wildcard. I really don't think there will be anything as bad as Italo disco this time.
Funny thing is, the reason I became lukewarm on the genre challenge as the editions went by is that I always was assigned genres that were no challenge to me at all, like progressive trance, progressive house, nu jazz, ambient or UK Garage. I actually WANTED to end up with stuff like hardstyle or italo disco, as I don't think I have ever attempted to mix those genres. This is the nature of the challenge, however. Getting dealt a disappointing genre is a risk you have to be willing to take if you want to participate, no matter how bad luck you may have had with the genre draw in the past.
Anyway, fuck it. Put my name down as well. I'm sure I can find the time to throw 45 mins worth of tunes together if things get super busy. The genre I'll go with is industrial music. Whoever gets the genre can decide for themselves what they want that term to encompass, as much as I cannot stand VNV Nation, :wumpscut: and all those other poppy groups that came out of the genre around the late 90s. As long as I don't get to hear Nine Inch Nails in the mix, I won't complain too much.
