Because I'm a gearhead. lol. The mk2's are my original decks. I bought the 5G's to use at home, and travel with the others. I blew the mother board on one of the MK-2's at a private party. Before the show of course. Since I was too far from my place, I was forced to go and look for another one. I found a music store, but they had all new 1200's at regular price. In one of the corners of the showroom, I found a used M5G at half the price of a new one. I bought it, placed it in the coffin, and it saved butt. So now whenever I go out, I carry a spare turntable, spare cd turntable, spare mixer, and a dual cd player. Just in case.

It's a nice set up. Like I always tell everyone, work with what you can handle. Start small, then build. Remember, it doesn't matter how much gear you have, it's how and how well you use it. I know some DJ's who still only use a pair of 1200's and a basic mixer. No fancy mixers like an 800, and they still kill it. Then again, I know someone who carries four cdj-1000's and he couldn't mix his way out of a paper bag.

ghetto as FUCK but it works.

How do you find the sound quality on ur 275? I'm guessing it's good attached to turntables. I have my 275 hooked up to cdj 200's and the sound quality is, blah. The bass is kinda drowny sounding, not nice n thumpy. I'm wondering if it's just cuz the of the analog mixer +digital decks, or is my mixer broken lol.

Thanks amp3. I just wish I had more gigs. New Years Eve was the last one I did. It's difficult trying to get a job in S. California. Especially when you live in Hip Hop nation and you spin House and Trance.

Sounds like it could be a power issue. You may have some dirty power someplace and that could mess with your sound quality. DJ mixers are vulnerable to bad power. My Denon 1500 does this. The bass gets really thin or boomy, while the highs are ear piercing or barely audible.

That is a clean set up. I really like it!
A 92 would obviously look nicer but i suppose the 800 with suffice.

Thanks on the gear. That's one of my down falls. Keeping track of my music. Sometimes I forget what I have. I try to make it a habit at least once a month to go through all my music. But when I'm getting ready for a gig, or putting together a demo the forgetfullness sets in.

Nice set up bro. Where do you take your turntables to have servicing done? I noticed you're in Huntington Beach, so I figure I'd ask. I'm looking to send mine out soon.

Nice. After looking at all these photos, I'm inspired to clean up my home set up.

Thanks.. I'm in Santa Ana, not HB. But eitherway, I take them to NTS in Brea. I been going there for years. They're an authorized service center. You can also go on Panasonic's website, and look up an authorized service center near you. There's lots of them in SoCal.

sorry for the crappy phone pictar I'll take better pics of it later.

latest acquisition of new cdjs.

So now it's

2x Pioneer CDJ 1000 mk2's
2x Technics 1200 m3d's
Allen & Heath Xone 42
Sony MDR 7506 headphones
same Kenwood amp and Alesis monitors and old ass speakers

I couldn't pass up the deal on the mk2's. 1200 for the pair and they're in very solid working order.

I feel bad that I'm probably going to push back really learning true vinyl mixing, but I really wanted new cdjs. Blarrrgh, these things are nice.

Yeah. It's because I'm a friend definitely haha. I was debating between either 900s or a pair of mk3s but when he quoted me that price I folded.
And yeah, after about a week of rather solid usage these things show no problems whatsoever so I'm STOKED.

better pictars as promised, also, this thread is disturbingly dead these days :/

yes, it's laundry day haha

I've just ordered a new mixer and set of monitors.

Opted for the xone 42 and a set of krk rp8's. My current mixer has been in dire need of replacement for well over a year as I've got a horrible crackle on every volume fader when I slide it up or down. The cross fader is bleeding really badly as well. Just decided to take the plunge last night and get a new one.

As for monitors, it wasnt that long ago I bought the m-audio ones but I'm not happy at all with the sound off them, i'm pretty sure there's a fault with them but I've not bothered getting them checked out cos I'm lazy like that
