Ug...my deepest fear. SO glad I have a new production rig.
The Track...Bass tag on the second...Yes

Just swiped bass line to be more appropriate for this particular style.

Some times you have those day you feel you can create something interesting and origin - lol I'm getting old - give it a run and let me know if you hear something awkward in it.

Starts nice and sweet! Cool chords, glassy sounds. Darius stereo bass coming in. Nice and bouncy. I like the arps in the background. Nice and soothing, also with the trumpet.

Quite good stuff. Really nothing to comment on!

Because why not. Not really looking for feedback, just sharing some WIPs for the fun of it. Cheesy house piano with dnb beat. Love the drums, bassline too. Remainder is fun listen but I feel this should be a hard hitter more than this soft stuff

Storyteller · dnb with housepiano?

Storyteller · 024 - Lofi

And a WIP in progress with the neighbour (bass guitar way too loud)

Storyteller · de-gangsters-op-de-laan.mp3

And one more which I'm not sure I'll finish. It's an updated version of the one posted 3 months ago or so.

Storyteller · No bounds (Work in Progress)

Posted by TranceLover007 on Apr-13-2022 17:42:

"For the fun of it. Dnb with housepiano?" - lovely dynamics and house piano which could benefit from some melodic strings support - I can definitely listen to this kind of DnB

"024 - Lofi" - I think rim sound is a bit too loud for me or you could add some nicely timed reverb to it, it would add warm space to this WIP.

"de-gangsters-op-de-laan" - very soothing and melancholic work. As far your bass line - I think level is OK but I would personally add a bit of low end to it for let it wonder around longer (if you know what I mean)

"No bounds (Work in Progress)" - this is definitely product to work on and release. All of those above WIP's are good and should see day light lol but this one in particular should be number one on your priorities list

Cheers,

Darek T/a DariusX

hey I still pop(poop) in here time from time, its a seasonal thing for now.

happy easter, nice clean mixes all around!

msz · pencils in the balls

something im dabbling with, careful its loud. slight upgrade on my speakers wonder how it translates.

Posted by Storyteller on Apr-18-2022 19:57:

Hey MSZ, this sounds a lot better than previous mixes! I'D say there is still room for improvement by lowering the bassline volume and probably increasing the kick and low toms volume. Hopefully thay will already do a lot for the whole

Posted by szm on Apr-18-2022 21:59:

hey man, thanks! cant blame the speakers here, just bad/lazy mixing on my part. maybe things to do as you say: remove toms, stabilize bass and lower bass, agreed with those points good ears!

I put a little more work in, still new to the speakers I got only used them a few hours but Im running into some snags.

trouble keeping the sub constant, I tried patching it up as much as I could maybe resampling with some engine could help me im running out of ideas. The toms, i've decided to leave them in for now I think they are staying with the project because they're giving the kick a little boost, the kick is the weak point still, reduced the sub a bit but still a/bing its still seems way too powerful even for drum and bass tracks referenced but it is what it is im not mastering engineer and any work I do will sound shit on a PA system for sure.

Posted by Storyteller on Apr-20-2022 08:27:

Yeah, maybe take out some of the sub of the bassline so the kick can come through? And lower the volume of the bass further. They overtones of the bass seem to sit nicely into the mix. Different/more sidechaining might be an option too. if you can get the kick to come through nicely with the bassline (perhaps just solo those 2) then this mix will drastically improve.

Something a bit more chilling and nostalgic and I'm also wondering how this bass is seating in this WIP.

Bassline seems perhaps a bit too deep. Enjoyable piece. I like the chilled vibe. I like how you didn't go all out with instruments this time too. Sometimes it can be a bit much . Good one this!

Are any of your snippets still pushed to platforms later on? This one I could see part of my liked songs on Spotify . I just don't know where to look/find you.

Sounds good man, appreciate your quick response and agree with your bass suggestion, I wasn't set myself on this particular sound but I have few different ones which, in my opinion, would sound a bit tighter. As far as my releases, you can find all of those links to Beatport, Traxsource, Spotify and few others on my Soundcloud page.

Whats goin on everyone...I see a little action has happened around here,it's been a minute. Funky Disco! Yea, chillin vibe and that definitely seems to be the meta at the moment. Dig the bassline and that two step funk groove in between.
As always, your just showin off again D =OP Nice one!

Workin on a few cuts, when I can. I am back in season mode so, time is limited. With that said...another chill track I've been working.

@SystematicX1: Not completely my thing. The pitchslides might work but I'm not a fan of the sound. The remainder is okay. Personally feel the kick has a bit too much oompf. Will there also be a bassline?

Sorry so long to get back. Yes, there is but my problem is, my sub is one location and my monitors are in another. So, when I get a few minutes to sit down and do something, I am doing so kind of crippled but training myself to do my sub level work at home and my highs and mids on location (wherever that may be). And I should also say that my environment is still kinda new to me as well and still getting used to my home room and when I am traveling the space I am in to. Kinda of a mind f*** at times. This track are simple tests that I am doing as I have been out of the game, but now with new gear. Thanks for the listen though =O)

this is one of the nicest things I have heard posted here, sounds great. yea just would need a bit of a sine sub bas layered under.

my latest mixings, has a few problems with levels and that low tom needs removing, maybe too much sidechain.

Hey Thanks for that M! Very kind of you.

So, first impression on your track. To be frank, I really love that mid to lower frequency bass tag. I am working on something "similar" to that bassline and I am curious if you possibly have attempted to work on a higher bpm with this track. The reason I ask is, I feel the compression may be a tad high...yes but, the ducking is not catching up with your kick. Now, I ran into this on another track of mine and I ,farting around and out of luck, sped the track up and poof! It did the trick.
LOVE the filter opening at your 1:00 mark
As much as I dig the bass line, the area that is muddling the effect is the mid range pads. As a suggestion, I would remove the sidechain from those whispering pad tones and let them play naturally. I take notice of this with an example at your 2:08 mark. When your kick stops, those pads flow more because there is nothing to duck on it.
I would really like to continue to see your development on this cut, it has potential.

This WIP could sound much more impressive if you add some kind of driving and dynamic bass line to it - rest is cool so far but few things may need to be adjusted when you will add this future bass line.

Something smooth and easy going but still working on my bassline and kick relationship so if you believe that this combo is not working well together for this style of the music then please let me know

sounds fine, the bass is subtle and works.

personally I like to go harder on the bass so I'd use this track as somewhat of a reference as it fills in more of the space I attribute with sounding there.

another wip, wouldnt really call it that though, just some presets in the same project file ive been in for a while in ableton. its kind of in the lower mids.
