Thanks.

meh I think it's cool, kept expecting it to break in with the 4/4 beat though. Might be the wrong kick for this style

see the problem is your 2nd kick in the bar is always falling on every 1/4
push the 2nd kick forward by 2/16ths

Thanks, Alriggghttt thats what i'm talking about, I need to start referencing. I had no clue what i was doing. I can sure use that for inspiration.

Posted by evo8 on Aug-20-2013 23:13:

yeah listen to a variety of stuff, prog breaks, regular breaks, dnb whatever - its no harm copying imo as you will end up going in a different direction most of the time anyway...

Here is a track I have been working on for awhile. I am not sure how the mix sounds? any suggestions would be awesome.

imo that kick is too thin, no punch in the low mids/bass

ok I see what you mean. Do you have any advice on how I can improve that. I have been trying to get a punchier kick already. Is there a way to add the punch to this kick or should I find a whole new one?

Hey guys. Getting used to my new cans. Ears are kind of toast right now, some feedback treatment would be great. Thanks!

I would probably just choose a different kick, or try layering another kick with the one you have. The attack part of that kick is ok, its just missing some low-mid i think
but probably quicker just dropping in a new kick altogether

track is ok but it needs something, im not sure what. Maybe a bit of distortion on that mid-bass to give it something more, the mix is nice tho, kick/sub sitting well

what headphones are you using?

Posted by meriter on Aug-23-2013 19:53:

needs a slowly building vacuum cleaner noise or something in the background to give it some ambiance

Yeah, checked it today when I woke up. Could use something else. Mix sounds nice over here, too.

Audio Technica ATH-M50's.

yeah even some eq on that mid-bass to give it a bit more bite - its really down to composition and arrangement once your mixing is good

i have those headphone sitting here beside me but i cant get used to closed back headphones at all

I have no idea if you are joking right now or being serious...
