All you need is a better mixer like the mackie d2 or wait for the mackie d4 next year, some better speakers and your set to start chargeing $$$$$$$$$ for HOUSE PARTIES

Unless you like quick fades and cuts on your upfaders as well as your crossfader. in that case you will be dissapointed. It's the one huge downfall of that mixer imho.

what are you talking about? You are talking about DN-x1500 right? you are EXTREMELY incorrect. Please do not say that i am wrong since it is my mixer and i never had that problem.

Uhh... I used it quite a bit a couple of summers ago with DannyO and J:/Digital and they both agree with me... maybe it's just DannyO's, but I know for a fact I am not wrong about my personal experience with the mixer. Crossfader was fine, upfaders had a noticeable delay which annoyed the hell out of me.

Posted by ZeJayMan on Jan-07-2007 04:30:

I tried the Denon and the Faders do have a tiny bit of a delay.

I will still agree with this in regards to Danny's mixer... upfaders have delay for quick cuts... Crossfader is pretty good imo..

Still don't compare to my smoooooth analog faders on my Ecler..

As I posted in the last page when asked about the mixer.

Oh I know, I was just restating for emphasis. It is however, good to hear Orbital32 doesn't seem to have this issue.

I'm not sure if the newest versions or maybe the silver version now come with different faders, I know they come with a different xfader, and I heard months back that Denons fix for the channels was a new fader, as an update could not fix it, so dunno for sure, one way around it is just assigning the xfader to the channel you want to fade, not great, but it works and there xfader is really nice.

How are you happy with Mackies?

I love them, they sound amazing for there size, they have a hiss sound when there is no music coming threw, thats about the only downfall, but they sure can pound, I have not taken them to there maximum volume yet, but have gotten close, and the sound quality does not drop on them, since these run directly from the mixer, I can only feed so much bass into them, and so the low ends are not huge unless you have a really bass heavy track, or you have a pre amp between them and the mixer to increase the bass, but when you do get a bass heavy track, these speakers shine considering they are only 12" speakers.

I have thought about getting a 18" sub for them, but I'm in no rush due to what these can deliver.

On a side note though about the bass, come to think of it I think this is mainly due to the quality of the music I am feeding into them, most the time, I have these hooked up to my iMac playing either a shitty quality feed or a low quality mix, add to that, the long shitty cable for hooking the iMac up to the mixer, and the shitty soundcards you get with built in soundcards, this is probably why, as when I play my beatport tracks (320k) threw Serato, there is PLENTY of bass and dynamics.

One last thing, I have heard one problem with these Mackies are the heat they generate, and that they like to shutoff when too hot, I have had them cranked alot and only experienced this once, with just one of the speakers, this was due to it being on the floor with the amp/heatsink up against a wall with a heater not far away, it didn't take long to kick back in, but would be annoying if it was a frequent problem, but then again I had them BLASTING away for awhile, just ask JDigitals roommates .

Fucking gorgeous.

Posted by DannyO on Jan-08-2007 03:36:

Thanks guys, yea thats how it is all the time now, as for the sheets, the one at the very back is temporary, but the booths one is attached on, I did that to disperse the blacklight underneath, made it a whole lot brighter, there not bed sheets, there just a thin white material I got from a shop here, works a treat.

If you think that looks good with its lighting, you should of seen it on NYE, it was enough to rival small clubs.

Interested to know why you have your decks facing that way, instead of the normal? Are you a scratch/hiphop DJ?

Posted by DJRecess on Jan-08-2007 14:28:

I'm more interested in why have both speakers facing away from the decks?

Sure, you've either a) Got it like that for the photo, or b) when people come round for a par-T in the basement - but do you keep it like that for every day use? When you're playing with yourself (if you get what I mean... (and no, I'm not calling you a wanker...!)

Looks great, and I'm sure the sound's still great, but I'd like a monitor with the speakers facing me for clarity's sake.

Of course, this is all based on the fact that I'm picking holes in something that looks fan-bloody-tastic out of jealousy!
