Not really a WIP. Well the video is. Trying to get some interesting bokeh balls out of disco lights. My lens has a fly-by-wire focusing system so it's hard to manually target focus points reliably.

Dunno what genre this is supposed to be. Ambient-mcprog? lol

Posted by Mel David on Sep-17-2018 13:50:

Just put a 140bpm beat to it, old sci-fi speech samples, whooshy risers, and a sidechain compressor to pump the music, and you have a trance track.

Like synth wave meets ambient I think.

Nice synths in here.

Funnily enough I just did this tonight, ambient track for my waterfall building website.

The image is of a small waterfall I am building, not a really lavish one or anything.

I was humming some melody with this wip and, as i could not really find some nice sound preset for the melody, i've decided to record that humming on a phone app :S and tried to pimp it to sound decent... starts at 02:05. Is it bad?

I am instantly taken back to the movie "Risky Business" which had some cuts from one of my all time fave electronic group Tangerine Dream.
That Arp is very reminiscent of a few scenes.

Very Atmospheric but imho that kick is out of place. Perhaps something with the front end cut off, a little flatter.

That sub bass is dope! (Ritchard's been rubbing off on you hasn't he..lol And that is quite alright. He's damn good with that sub!)

Really grooving mix...and you are starting to use a lot of middle atmospheric overtones in your songs now. I also notice your timing and composition is getting better when you are introducing new and different percussive elements. It shows and you get that intensity and build, but slowly.
All in all a solid track. Needs some EQ polishing but that is easy.
Cool Track!

Tangerine Dream The Dream Is Always the Same
---------------------------------

I had no idea what happened on the first attempt. It was ducking and I couldn't figure out where or how. So...tossed it and did it again.
Havne't heard in the truck yet but hoping!
Sub feedback would be appreciated

Yeah the kick and sub bass are competing for mix space. You can try pitching the kick away from the bass line or find another kick sample, if you're not doing the side-chain compressor thing.

With these more downtempo grooves I like a more solid kick instead of a rounded 909. Check out the kick to Magic Marmalade - Again 'N' Again. It kicks you in the gut like Bruce Lee.

Honestly this is pretty good mate, really captivating and I like the arps, your vox and that sustained bass.

Dunno man there's some dissonant parts in here, and it doesn't sound as cool and pro as other work of yours lately. Sorry man it's just too cheese.

Guys so here are my 5 submissions for my EP - honestly I truly am pretty circumspect of this shit, none of them sound great to me, but hey ho, let me know if you like any of these;

Bit of a big ask for me to expect you to wade through these I realise, sorry boys.

We is my favourite of those ^^

Posted by gordan100 on Sep-23-2018 17:50:

@Richard: I like "I'm Back", "We" and "Drifting back". On "Dnb never" snare seems to be a bit out of mix

"Cannot hear" kick is not going well with the rest of the mix (which also sounds a bit lifeless)

@Phil: yeah, you had much better works than this, sorry

That is a nice kick . Bass was sidechained at first, but i turned it off, it seemed fine to me without sidechaining, i'll check it out.

Thanks Phil.. Yeah, Rich does nice subs, Paul and msz too . I got two kicks there, in which part is out of place, or it is alltogether out of place?

Very Nice, big round bass and the hums sound very unique, nice job.

Posted by SynthNinja on Sep-25-2018 05:29:

Now I just need that chord change.

the timing on some of the tracks is off which makes it hard for me to listen to, nice idea though

Yeah, you know why apart from lazy drum programming? It's all coming from my XP-50 keyboard workstation. It had a reputation for flaming notes during busy sequences. Just too much for the RISC chip to process. And it had 64-note polyphony limit. I didn't have a DAW back then. I ran the stereo output from the keyboard into a Behringer Composer Pro to 'finalise' and from that into a rackmount CD-R recorder.
Might have to update this track soon. I've got better VSTis now.
I've got an idea for the MV to use footage from Vivid Sydney. But I'm going to have to refilm the bokeh balls so that you can't see the kitchen. I need a greenscreen or a nice printed background. Maybe a disco cat as well.
