Looks like I missed the second one lol so will only be able to comment on one - I would add some decent bass line (which would glue this track nicely together) and variate your drums a bit more (for my taste) and then you could see what else you are able to squeeze (like instrument, FX, .....) to make this track more attractive just my $0.02.

Chillout Track

Any thoughts on this Chillout WIP, what is your listening experience? sounds levels? - like it or not?

nice vibe Darek! for me it's a bit full sounding to relax to but another person's idea of chillout is probably different to mine!

I like the progression and the piano later, nice groove. It does sound overcrowded in places, and a bit too loud.

Cheers mate for your comment - as far as "a bit to loud" statement, I like to work (even from the beginning) in tight environment so I tent to mix all channels as the final product, assign it own space (freq and space field per instrument) so I can better here and feel what's need to be add or change in my production - if this make any sense

Added:

Still have headroom space for some minor facelifts but if you mix properly then your sounds are more deeper and overall dynamics benefits from it.

Btw, lead sounds a bit cheesy when it's open. It sounds best for me in part when it's combined with piano, more closed

I was trying to add bassline to 520, but somehow bassline didn't fit there and at the end of the session only drums left from previous mix

keep developing that my man, dont know what sound you're going for but I feel like the sounds you've chosen should fill more up the frequencies for some reason its not; dont know if on purpose or not. U can try some tape emulation if you have trouble bringing stuff up but it will add compression as a side-effect. I only use the stupid tape thing in reason so I dont have anything to recommend. paid-wise that uhe satin thing everyone is using.

Hey, thanks It sounds a bit underpowered on speakers, it was late and i was worried not to make everything too loud and crowded as usual. Will check that tape emulation thing.

Melody (chords) are actually pretty nice but delivery are overtaken by your bass low freq - you already have done a lot of sweet stuff so I don't have to tell you what to do but so far your mix is not translating well over (at least) my headphones Mac - it is an easy fix on your end.

Which headphones are you using? I probably hit my limit with skill/monitoring, not sure if I can remedy it.

I have few but this time I was on Sennheiser HD 280 Pro.

U sure its not the headphones, let me know if you check elsewhere because I checked the 280pro graph it seems very low end bias'd just to make sure, maybe it is off though like I said my monitoring environment is not ideal.

If anyone cares to listen, dunno if I should re-work this track/fix levels, etc. or just leave as is. I was pretty stoned while doing it, thought it sounded ok, now not so sure:

Sounded like some undercutting in low freq need to happen to give a bit more room for different instruments/sounds.

Same, stunning track, just needs some subtractive EQ IMO.

worked on a bit of eq, I wanted to see how far loud I could push it for the luls. I'd probably have to replace the stab and a background pad for it to fit well sonically.



note to self, try to make less abrasive music in the future.

new day new broken idea has sorta that adid sound.

Hard to judge as this is not my style of the music but knowing you I'm sure that whatever direction you decided to go with this track it is going to be good Mac

So after spending some time (last three tracks) on Chillout site I decided to work on something a bit more energetic/driving - give it a try and see how you like it



Still short and rough but the concept is there already.
