I like it, the synth sounds nice whatever you used

just need to add some pads or a lead or something, its got a nice kind of feel to it!

More wip

Posted by theterran on May-18-2018 07:47:

Been a bit of a nice break...Just got back from work...Started fiddling around with a drum machine out of boredom. Thought...hey, cool groove, lets add a bass...one thing leads to another...

About 30 mins later, got a fun little wip...

Minimal mixing effort, no real transitions yet, but I have some ideas...Toying around with things a bit still. Kinda like it though...bit different than what I normally make.

Thanks, yeah, there was a lot of imagination involved yesterday when i thought that brass section works. With some tweaks maybe.

i really like the brassy sound, that is something to work with, it has character, not sure the rest is failing into place with it
also try a bit more reverb as some sounds in your mix are a bit dry, that leads to a clean mix but sometimes you want a bit more colour my 2c.....

Posted by evo8 on May-20-2018 00:18:

an attempt at ambient/space, needs a lot of tweaks here and there and maybe some sounds changed altogether but its late

Haven't had much time but here is a bounce of a House approach (unmixed)

Sound intense, ghostly and haunted, scary shit

I like that "haaaaa" sound at the start (or is it a subtle crash). Not sure about snare, sound nice but breaks the flow for me

Needs also more variations on arp, or different arrangement to keep the interest. Me very proud that you are using it, thanks

Mixed that again, some reverb added (probably too much) and replaced the drums.

Excellent sound design, mixing, etc as usual. A little monotonous, but great showcase of your sound engineering skills.

I like a lot of elements in this, but I don't think it is developed very much. What about adding some chord progressions to mix it up? The synths are pretty good and with some mixing I am sure the sound design will be pretty good. Just needs more structure and development.

Agreed, and you are 100% , this is totally undeveloped and somewhat purposely. If anything I think I looked more at it like a demo to Gordan100.
Essentially, besides Gordan's Arp, the rest is purely percussive.
With some other cuts and added arrangement/comp as mentioned, this could develop nicely.
The point I was attempting to achieve was the control you have by using one shot (good quality) samples vs a fully composed rhythm loop(that is not good quality to begin)

yes, i really like this, thought the kick was a bit clicky but its probably ok
just need to build towards some crescendo in a breakdown!

@trancelover also ... dont fall into the trap of adding more elements to develop, sure you dont want the track to sound boring, sometimes the line is fine
the more stuff you add, the more fatiguing it can become as there are too many elements for the brain to try and concentrate on, my 2c

nice one evo, everything fits the vibe.

I picked up some akg headphones from the 80's, testing how the mix translates, but I suspect its fucked.

Really like this

Got this two

Posted by MSZ on May-29-2018 00:17:

def expand on that first one, from what I can tell theres decent enough room for a bass too, which could be interesting.
