Good question Richard, I have something in my mind in the moment so we will see in a few day after I receive dry material from a girl I'm working with - I hope it will/would complement this vibe nicely

Cheers guys for your honest opinion on this

It's really rough, but I'd love some feedback on it.

Sounds on par to the storyteller productions I know ;^

Enjoyed the creativity here, that twangy sound reminds me of this track from the 90's trying to remember the name now, Its always refreshing to hear more unique timbres once in a while, filthy saws ;P

Bugger when did you get better at mixing than me :'( I would call that candy progressive(or progressive house by beatport standards lol) with a long intro

One thing thou, some of those (as Richard was saying) "battlestar galatica lazer sounds" need to have some either FX on it or at least push a bit back - my $0.02.

Nice WIP so far !!!

Cheers,

Darek

thanks all, i must look at adding some subtle fx to those sounds!

any thoughts on this deeptrance number? I've spent one session on it yesterday, long story short, has to be done today. I guess its way too simple huh? Easy to remix because the stems were awesome.

Yep, this sound is really lash M. - sweet way of unwinding this melodic theme in this remix - me like it.

PS. - watch for overcompressing in the final stage of your production.

Sweet !!!

Ummmmmmm, now I have a little problem Jesse as I can quite figure out why this WIP doesn't have much more emotional impact on me as it should, just because your melody and the way you structure it is simply excellent !!!

I'm not really sure but (in my opinion) this may have something to do with your drums -> either the way they sound or the pattern they are playing, I think??? - beside that I really enjoy this melodic evolution of this production my friend - well done so far J.

Thanks man, I put some more work into it so it should some more complete. More full sounding, arranged better, etc

Will try to put some feedback love into this thread over the weekend.

Hey Jesse,

I was going to let more people comment on your track before I would give you my advice (right or wrong lol) but I thing I will do that right now as I will go home soon and don't know if will/would have time later lol.

For me (ignore if you not agree with me man) your drums sound like a studio samples and this is why you have this style disconnection with the rest of your elements in your track. Try to use a different samples and start with really simple one at the front and progressively mature it (over the time).

The rest sounds really sweet !!!

Cheers mate,

Darek

Defo more full sounding! Thats exactly what i was going to say about the last version, sounded a bit too thin in the drums department

I love the drums and bass on this. I agree w bit with Darius X - and i think the more organic, sampled sounds (like guitar or piano?) fit the style much better that the synth parts

Just my opinion but i dont like the "wailing" type synth at all - i think it detracts from the serious vibe!

I would like to hear some lush pads in this and some sounds to fill out the space a little bit more?

but i really like the vibe, nice to hear "listening" music on here too!

IMO of course

DariusX - "Dream in Your Eyes" (Only WIP For Vocal) by DariusX.

Lovely atmosphere! i think you got the reverb with the pads spot on. What reverb are you using btw?

Nice contrast at the drop when it sounds a lot drier

love the beat, snappy

Bass is sounding ok but in my humble opinion it could be better. Almost sounds like the bass is stereo, or beating against itself like he waveforms are detuned against each other? I think the sub would work better as a simpler, consistent, even sound. Then sidechain it once its tight.

Also perhaps you could high pass other sounds a bit more to make a bit more space down there

ATM i think the mix is just a little bit muddy and it spoils an otherwise lovely mix

IMO of course others might not think the same!

looking forward to hear th vocals

Thats a lovely tune imo

how did you get it sounding so wide

Agree on the over compression. bass sounds quite distorted.

Apart from that it pretty much sounds perfect to me, kind of suff id absolutely love to make

Posted by Evolve140 on Jul-20-2013 20:29:

Stayed up way too fucking long banging this shit out. Mixdown feedback particularly appreciated since I'm getting used to these Audio Technica's.

Feedback in general also appreciated.

Fuck, time to smoke a cigarette and drink some water and sober up. Did a bunch of adderall and worked on this for like 10 hours. Fuck I'm insane.

Cheers mateys.

Loud sweetspots, compression, eq, saturation, reverb, chorus. basically everything, its a small progression in my world.

Thanks nate for you comment and constructive analysis of my WIP.

As far as this bass line I'm using, which at the moment has too much of the tail and not enough sidechain, will need to tweak a bit farther to get what I'm after in the final stage - also I will have to locally undercut (from my bass line) some freq to make a room for different sounds (instruments).

Cheers mate for your time and effort,

Darek

Damn, not much to say about it, love the atmosphere in the break!

Something to get this thread going. It sounds a little bit low in volume.

Definitely good start man - and yes this particular WIP would benefit from more dynamics in it lol - like where you going with it !!!

Cheers,

Darek

really like the synth work, not so much the drums.

that arp is really tidy and neat and well-made, and i love the harmonies.

beats and bass feel like someone banging on an oildrum, all rumbly and unsubtle. this needs some andrew bayer level accompaniment =

oooh some of these little portamentos in the intro are lovely! you got creative with the delay on the pluck chords there, it may need a secondary delay, or more reverb, to keep it together. i like the chord progression, it has the potential to be even better with a slightly less conservative melody... maybe something unusual, scene-grabbing, to help stave off the encroaching cheese

The lead wanders just a bit, which is fine, but gives kind of a loungey feel in my opinion especially being kind of a vibe instrument. Maybe just a little too much sub in the mix. I think you could have done something a little cooler with the breakdown. Overall, it is a 3/5 for me. Releasable, good to listen to a couple times, though not incredibly memorable. However, sometimes it takes a couple of listens for me to really like a track.
