Yeah, it's just that it's so far from what I do nowadays that there's not much point in developing it further.

With that said I decided to experiment with a new kick and snare tone and checked on the bass. Damn if my cans aren't giving away to the dead.
I haven't done the ultimate test in the truck yet but think this did a little more improvement.
Appreciate the advice.

your welcome dude glad to be of service I lked the new drums, thought it was a definite improvement didnt get a chance to comment further as its been taken down. could have maybe even but a proper breaks beat behind it as suggested by someone else on here

what cans do you use? if they are not giving you an accurate picture of whats going on maybe get some new ones? AKGk701 so cheap nowadays...im having to rely on my cans as acoustics in new room awful atm!

quality IMO. if anything maybe missing some kind of "hook" but then that would change the feel. Perhaps the tune could have used a little development after the drop. I like it a lot. nice mix, textures, layers. sounds tight. skills

Thanks Chris

I'm pretty down on my musak at the mo, nothing seeming to grab people much.

I don't know if I will finish this one tbh as I cant see where it can go after the break to make it interesting

Cheers much for the feed

This may seem weird FB but the first 15 secs are wondefull, if you could keep it like that with a light deft touch and then add some vocals to float things away, nice. It becomes too heavy handed and jerky after 15 secs for me

Here's a WIP, is it going somewhere ?

imo your sub is taking over the track, there behind the mid muddiness is some really nice higher frequency tones.
I think those tones need to be highlighted and showcased and Im willing to bet you'll get a much different feel.

I do like the idea of this one, just needs some filling up.

I could do without the vocal, though, but that might just be me.

You guys feedback lead to I think a far better version and better showcase of the analoggggg arp

I think you're really onto something here.

There Ya Go! THAT is what I wanted to hear

I am very curious about the kick however, not sure if you played around with it or if is a placeholder or your creative choice using that particular one. Perhaps a different kick with some depth and a more bottom end would help?
Overall at this state I would say a great improvement from the last.

It's nice Rich, cool vibe. Like the subtle phazing/cutoff on synth. Kick sounds maybe a bit out of mix.

I was playing with this again. Does the bass starting at 0:48 works for you guys?

btw Thanks, Rich for pointing out my annoying synth after 15 sec, i'm doing this all the time not knowing at first

YES!! And...no.
Yes as in I totally get it and YES! It truly does work.
No as in imo, it should be subtle in the mix and could easily be resolved by volume. I can appreciate the wideness of the tone it is attempting to create but feel you would get more impact by going with less stereo range on that bass. Maybe even a low pass on EQ just to get the subtly and warmth.
Really Really Really dig this and feel it can be a very vibey track

-------------------------------------

Welp, I had to make a decision on this track as I keep coming back to it. I made the decision to stick with it but if I were to, things had to change.
After a lot of thought, I made considerable changes in the composition.
Nearly all the beginning percussion is gone and went more atmospheric.
Made some adjustments on the snare and kick end.
Note changes in a few areas but the arrangement remained.
To me, the biggest change came when I felt the track was sluggish. So, I increased the bpm to 128 and feel it has a much better groove to it.
Still needing some work but I feel this is a better iteration.

Hey thanks, will try how it sounds with a more subtle bass... I like the old and the new beginning. I think you need more lowend from 1:10, and it's a bit to bright in mid-highs imo. I also have a feeling that the kick is slowing down the groove in some parts.

Thanks again, I think kik n sub better now

So I like what you here apart from that bass at 48 but that's just my taste. For me it hampers the groove.

Not really getting this one mate. At 1.08 I was wanting a nice bass but on computer speakers I can only here a lead synth and drums.

Is this drop ok without hatz or should I add some?

Sounds fine without hats to me. I like chopped voices you have, bass, it has a groove. First 4 bars of melody (0:46 - 0:52) are nice to me then it goes in different direction than i would like. Snare transition from 1:22 - 1:38 is not my favorite too, but that's more a general dislike about that kind of transitions than a critique of your track.

Hi Richard,

First of all, really nice melodic concept man (it is along my line of liking lol) - nicely crafted sound with cool and catchy melodic development. As far as first break, hmm you may have to work it out a bit different way (for me at lease) to sustain this awesome vibe - also in second part of your WIP I can only hear kick but no drums elements anymore so I would work some more to expose them a bit more as they will drive your vibe and add nice driving groove - my $0.02

Cheer mate,

Darek

Lets start with this - drums are well defined and in my view don't need too much of work (maybe just only blending or gluing it with the rest could add some more benefits) - the rest is really hard to judge as your sound choices are not the best at the moment + your overall soundscape is really flat and this doesn't help with my listener experience

Cheers,

Darek
