nice!

i would personally prefer if yo got rid of the sustained bass note for the build up

when the bass kicks in again its banging! Nice full sounding mix and wide tops!

i think the square wave melody would work better if it was simpler

id personally like more reverb on the pad in the background

I like the bassline in the end more then the rest, puts the emphasis on the clap.

Here's something of me, been a while since I made something.

It hardly has any low end.

First of all - respect for having that goal, im realising myself that a lot of my older tracks had too much sub/bass

But in comparison to the track you posted, yours still sounds a bit bass light to my own ears, the youtube track sounds a bit fuller in the bass area
its a tricky area to get right - arguably the trickiest of them all

I noticed that. Unfortunately that's common for 90% of the people posting here. Too bass heavy, especially the kick which overpowers the mix even at low volume.

You're tricked by the higher rms in moogwai's track. It is 8db higher in volume than mine. This is quite a big difference. His bass is less dynamic so of course it'd tends to appear fuller.
But the reality is, that track is mid-bass characterized.

why is it 8db higher than yours though? Music does need to have a certain loudness to sound pleasing imo...and im not talking about squashing it to death with limiters

Not a whole lot going on yet. I think the kick could use more sub, it needs a snare or clap and more elements. The lead melody could be more compelling too I think. Overall what is there is pretty well mixed to me and I think you can build around the bass and lead.

Very good. Sounds ready to be played in the backround at an upscale shopping centre.

Really like where you going with it man, nice and smooth vibe with clean and well defined melodic aspect - really cool.

As for any suggestion - try to add some mid layer bass line to support your low freq one, it would give you more dynamic character to your overall sound - my $0.02

Cheers mate,

Darek

Interesting style man - try to spice up a bit 1:04 moment - expected to hear more dynamic impact in this part (or after) or at lease add some additional component to progressively solidify your groove.

Me like it !

Your next step is mastering and you have to do really good job in this phase as this kind of genre need to be really strong in dynamics (like almost in your face) to have some memorable listening experience or impact lol.

Nice so far mate,

Darek

I can't quite put my hands on this WIP so far my friend but I think this is coming from unusual structural arrangement you have so far in it. Like the melodic approach but execution (of the drop and rest) neds to be revisit a bit more (in my opinion).

I know you can do it !!!

Couple things (ignore it if you don't agree with me) - first -> change your kick as for now it has to wooden+flat sound and doesn't click with your bass line, second -> add some interesting sound layer to your synth as for now sound a bit weak for this type of genre - also pay attention to your mixing and mastering as those two stages will/would determinate faith of this WIP - got some potential !!!

Here is my latest effort for a vocal EDM or TranceChill (whatever you guys will/would classify this WIP lol - doesn't really matter to me).

It may be known to some TA's (being few days on SC already) but would like to know if this overall atmosphere is suitable for this kind of genre - in your view?

Cheers guys,

Darek

Heck of a groove here - I have been 'singing' some vocals to this one.

It minds me of late 90's London EDM you hear to this day on small radio shows. You want some long dub delay type hits I think - like those used on old reggae tracks. You could use this effect on the odd one of those battlestar galatica lazer sounds you have there.

Sounding lush and summery mate, vocals would work well you think?

Yep, this is type of House I really enjoy listen to man, right stuff - like it.

One thing thou, some of those (as Richard was saying) "battlestar galatica lazer sounds" need to have some either FX on it or at least push a bit back - my $0.02.

Nice WIP so far !!!

Cheers,

Darek
