Yeah, the EQ is probably way off right now. It's a headphone mix.

this thread has changed a bit since i last came here. what happend to the idea of comment/post? anyway i removed my stuff and feedback and might post it up again when more finished

Posted by SystematicX1 on May-27-2017 06:44:

There has been some,"flexibility" on this thread in recent past due to only a handful of people really posting anything, consistently.
Sometimes, people do not even post a track and respond to another persons wip because we truly care about one anothers work.
With that said, one who does not post a lot of tracks and only post's tracks to get feedback on their own work..well, you get what you pay for.

Sounds pretty nice, but the bassline compression is hurting my eardrums a tiny bit w/ headphones, kind of fatiguing to listen to.

Posted by MSZ on May-28-2017 23:46:

back with my previous wip, discarded some sounds, added new etc, but it's still muddy, lacking the mental alacrity right now to mix any better.

*edit nvm, there is too much dissonance to show.

I will feedback others shortly

Is this hard sounding

Me on vocs but this is for a rapper to talk all over

Posted by SystematicX1 on May-30-2017 20:06:

Track didnt post Richard, at least I am not seeing it

Posted by Richard Butler on May-30-2017 20:35:

Ok..I am seeing it now maybe I just needed a refresh.
So, this track....uh...DAMN son!
That bass is PHAT and the progression has a bassnectar feel to it.
A little more portamento perhaps on the tail?

On the second verse are you pitching that rolling kick? Sounds very cool

The only thing I am still trying to figure out is the intro piece.
Its very atmospheric and I dig it. It's still fresh on my ears but I am unsure if the two pieces fit together. I like the melodies on it's own but that bass progression is what stands out to me the most.
Not really sure if you are in need of a Rapper with this. Maybe just some vox glitches?

Great 'advices' thanks Systematic. I like the idea of gliched vocal snippets as I can do these myself - I do find working with vocalists so long and hassley

Love the parts with the bass, sounds really good and moody - the little breaks im not sure about the music in those, i know its probably meant to sound a little weird for contrast but not sure if you couldnt do something better there

I'm laying my head on the bass. Great, Richard. I like breaks too, but would love bass parts longer. Would buy!

Got 4 downvotes and 0 upvotes on reddit for "230 2.1 (wip)" :=). Not bad at all . Single digit downvotes always feels great!

My new weirdo...

Bah! Hate those reddit subs man...just misery. If you like it, that is all that matters.
This new track has you seemingly taken a progressive house path. Dig it and have dabbled myself in it.
Production wise it's a little muddy but could easily be cleaned up with EQ.
Maybe some sidechain compression to add to the pulsing of that mid?
Overall,I like the composition and the arrangement. Mere production work from there. Good Job!

-----------------------------------------------

Ok, here is a little melodic drumstep. hoping for a final go around, but still unsure of the bass
Anyone got anything they are hearing I should be more aware of?

It's ok, though tbh nothing really stands out here. Production wise, when listening this with loud volume i feel to much high and highmids in the mix. Your mixes are clear and pretty good but often tend to be too crisp imo.

Thanks for the ears man and yea I tend to agree. I think sometimes I over compensate the highs because I think my lowend is taking over

What kind of setup are you mixing with?

Cans (SH HD 650's) that are starting to wear out =O(

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Jun-08-2017 19:43:

Ah yes. Headphone mixing can be treacherous.

I love the bass
