With the Nexus everything you mentioned is so much easier. it also has a shorter signal path and no dvs required cuz of USB.

No usb cable and no 2 pairs of RCA required.

That's a very valid point - removing 2 pairs of crappy RCA's and a serato or traktor interface will make a big difference. USB cable make no difference. It's digital data so whether the data is sent via usb cable to interface or from USB drive to built in CDJ DAC, the signal path makes no difference at all - it's still a USB connection.

..but then again, you can hack traktor to work with any soundcard so that's not problem

Posted by PaULiN0 on Mar-01-2014 03:10:

Rann, when I used Traktor with my m5g's I used the shortest connection possible with like you mentioned before neutrik connectors and everything was solid.

When you say any soundcard, do you mean you can timecode vinyl with a lets say a lynx hilo?

Posted by PaULiN0 on Mar-01-2014 03:16:

I know for a fact I will miss the techs but I do also know there will better turntables made in the future. Reloop has a model currently competing agains't the SL-1210 M5G

Better turntables will not be made for dj'ing. Reloop kit is shit. Vestax lost millions on making a better turntable. So did stanton.

No one got it as right as technics and they were the only ones with enough market share to make it viable.

The trick is not getting them locked but having a good ear and bring able to ride the pitch faders correcting for adjustments nobody else can hear. You should be able to have them in sync in 3 seconds. 5 seconds to level out and then a few adjustments.

Posted by DJ RANN on Mar-01-2014 18:11:

Yep, being able to ride the pitch is essential, but honestly, I've seen guys get it so dialed in during the first few seconds that they never touch it again.

I don't see the big deal with having to ride the pitch even if you don't get it locked perfectly first time. I takes all of what, 2 seconds to adjust, and that means you've got at least 3-4 minutes of spare time on your hands between mixes.

That extra time sure make newbs drool who are basically looking at everything your doing.

It's all down to technique

Posted by PaULiN0 on Mar-01-2014 20:58:

Yes, Jeff Mills is nasty. The only thing I can't do is DJ with a watch, it might look classy but that shit gets in my way all the time.

There's a lot of hype over these. I know a few of die hard DJ's who are jumping ship.

Yeah thats true, you can use custom RCA cables and without grounding.

Posted by PaULiN0 on Mar-02-2014 00:50:

Buying my 2nd nexus CDJ Now, holy shit the price dropped to 1,600 and for a regular 2000 is 1,300/

The only problem is that all my 12"'s would be useless. They are cute though.

Same thing happened when vestax launched their decks. They were superior to Techs in many way (better motor, better tonearm, no ground etc) but they lasted all of 4 years in production. They didn't feel right or better said, Like Technics. The reloop aren't bad but they won't sell enough to make any impact (especially in clubs which is the standard) and I daresay enough to even stay afloat. They're copies of Technics with electronic bits added, but they don't quite feel the same.

RCA cables? big deal. M5G's have higher quality RCA's than you buy yourself (I have it on good authority it was actually in response to many people taking their Mk's and soldering on Van Damme Cable with Neautrik RCA's). Technics used cable just as good as Van Damme and then Gold Plated RCAs. I don't know anyone that has ever needed to mod their M5G's to different cables. The ground cable remove mod will take you less than 30 mins for both decks.

Sweet! The 900's are going to tumble, especially 2nd hand

Oh they exist. They had them under lock at NAMM. If they ever go on sale, I'm buying a pair! hehe

Here's the story.

How could something discontinued compete with anything? The fact that reloop is competing w something that has been discontinued is pretty funny. And says a lit abt the m5g, its a beast.

Urban ninja and juanpaulino are the same person lmao get a life bra... click in the ebay link and the ebay account is juanpaulino lmao

Ur so gay

Posted by discobiscuit on Mar-03-2014 18:11:

M5gs will last 5x longer than cdjs. And they will never be made again. There will be a new cdj in 2 yrs. Or itll get phased out by controllers. Like the ddjsz.

U are an idiot

Posted by DJ RANN on Mar-03-2014 19:59:

Good points from Discobiscuit, especially that Reloop are competing with a discontinued product. The price of "new" M5G's are only going up and I think that's testament to how right they got it.

I hate to tell you though, you're probably the only person that didn't know that PaUliNo, is also Juan Paulino and Urban Ninja and Ortofon Child (and a couple more that he's not using anymore).

Juan - not to have a go but I simply don't understand you and I'm thinking you don't have a clue what you're buying or what you need and this issue is exacerbated by having too much money.

You bought a CDJ 200nexus in some misguided belief it sounds far superior to the previous CDJ's you had (difference is negligible), were just about to pull the trigger on a Pioneer T1 (maybe you actually did?) until I asked why the fuck you'd need it as it's completely redunadant with the CDJ you just bought, then went out and bought another CDJ2000 Nexus and are now complaining about your mixer, and trying to fire sell your M5G's because somehow the 2000's completely "changed your style of mixing".

You've bought and sold more high end soundcards in the last 3 years than I, as a pro mix engineer have owned in the last 10.

You keep going on to audiophile Hifi sites and getting brainwashed in to thinking things like a $1000 usb cable will be good investment for a bedroom studio DJ setup.

Don't get me wrong, it's your money, but I have a feeling you don't have any idea actually what you want or what you truly need. I know you haven't lost that much money on the things you've sold so well done but honestly, do some real research from people who know and make it specific to your needs, then buy shit.

Posted by PaULiN0 on Mar-03-2014 21:43:

discobiscuit is a true dumbass and he laughed at m5g's before. You lost all credit to me agreeing with him RANN plus he keeps deleting his own threads.. Your stuck in the past and will hardly find M5g's in clubs. Buying a T1 is the same thing as buying 900 nexus or 850 just less channels idiot, they are all integrated.

Why the fuck you bring up sound cards in the dj booth LOL. i only bought 3 in my whole life. Motu, RME, LYNX. Get it?

RANN, fuck your puny low tiny sound you get from your echo sound card LOL.
I''m make a lot of money. So leave me the fuck alone on what i buy you dip shit, really you want to make me look dumb on what i get in order to justify how you feel about it, just shut your mouth and have some respect. I listed so many facts that mixing is easier with 2000 nexus than with m5'gs, lower signal path ect. I use to be just like you and use to say yeah DVS is better than i got flamed here and now everyone is gone.

FYI: get a 2000 nexus then get back to me you jealous fuk cuz you don't have one so you can't say anything because i had m5g's and 2000's oh and I dj in clubs that have nexus doesn't count newb,

Posted by PivotTechno on Mar-04-2014 13:40:

For at least a couple of years, weren't you passionately telling anyone who would listen to invest in turntables? And now you're slagging them off? What's the point? To make yourself feel better about having shelled out so much coin on a new setup, when deep down you know it's probably only going to marginally improve your game?

It really sounds like your gear purchases are more about status than they are about actually meeting your current needs as a DJ. Like when someone buys a $2500 laptop and uses it to surf, check emails and watch movies.

Posted by PaULiN0 on Mar-04-2014 13:45:

Uh yeah cuz i never owned a nexus dumby.

Posted by discobiscuit on Mar-04-2014 18:03:
