i was wondering what those equipment on the left en right below the turntables are?

Posted by T-Soma on Mar-30-2006 13:13:

My guess would be that there is an amp, a few different eqs, a compressor, a recorder and some kind of efx processor. Not sure what else but im guessing those are some of the things there.

im sure trinity will fill in the blanks, but the top left is an amp, bottom left is a BBE 362 sonic maximizer/enhancer ( i think)

Top right is a DAT recorder, below that (blue rack)- not sure, then below that (thee green rack) is an Electrix filter factory
, then below that is an Alesis MEQ 230 Graphic EQ (30 band)

wow your right on freak!

the blue is a compressor....freak nailed everything else although the only things being used is the DAT, filter factory and the amp.

Just got a little something new to play with. My friend let me yous this because its just collecting dust at the moment. Its a Sea Sound Solo. Now I can record straight into my computer using wavelab. I can now record at 24bit/96khz. Great sound but a recording takes up almost 2 gigs. I just dither it down to about 78megs and I can put it into my mp3 player and it keeps a great sound quality. So far I just have done a test mix with it. It turned out rather well for being drunk.

I have it near my computer and just run cable to my turntables on the other side of the room.

Heres what they are connected to.

I'd be a little wary of sticking my laptop on top of a speaker like that - magnets and hard disks don't really mix...

True but if you look you can see there is only what looks like a 1" driver at the top, magnetic field isnt going to be that big or strong.
Its possible i guess but i wouldnt be worried.

Alright lads, how's it going?

You're right about the table looking like the Sefour, because i basically designed it with the Sefour X30 in mind.

I then just took measurements (as i'm sure they did when they made the table lol) And had to keep my height (6foot2") in mind so built it to suit my size.

I changed it around a little bit by adding a design on top which basically has padding under all the feet and mixer, it's suppose to 'help' with vibration etc, lol well that's how i'd market it anyway.

About the laptop, i know what you mean about the speakers. And they have got a pretty big magnet in them, but as Dj 00 Tommy said, you've only got a titanium tweeter at the top of the tower, with a 5.25" midbass unit under that and two 6.5" low end woofers. The speakers are made by B&W don't know the exact model but they're about 12-14 years old and still amazing!

The laptop is also angled slightly sideways so that the rubber feet underneath it touch either corner of the speaker tower, preventing it from slipping off. So far so good..

Funny because when you mention it i would be worried about nocking it off the speaker all together! Im so buggered for room. Im trying to find wall mounts for my pa speakers whilst trying to find room for a 61 key midi controller.
Anyone mounted speakers 20kgs and up on there walls? If so i could use your help.

I can beat that. My entire amp + speaker system is about 25-30 years old. It was bought by my Dad new and I stole it off him. Still great and can really pump but I do get some breakdown of the sound (crackle mainly) every now and again on one monitor. Usually fixes itself pretty quick though and thats pretty rare.

You don't need the newest of everything! Certainly can royally piss off the neighbours

lol the gear downstairs is still my dad's.. i've just hooked everything up to it.

When i was younger i was messing around with the balance on the amp and pop....fizzzzzz the thing went dead. Took them 6 months for some reason to fix the bloody thing! But love the whole system. It's a Denon Setup with the B&W towers.

Will have to try and get my hands on them when i'm older

Old gear rules! (when it's good of course!) It means that much more to you as well i find.

Posted by Psiweaver on Apr-04-2006 19:11:

he just said that he designed it off the sefour and just made it a littler higher and added hte padding for the tables.

A Hard Drive is just a big magnet, the power that a magnet would need to wipe a HD clean is strong enough to seperate the Iron from your blood, now floppys on the other hand well thats a whole different story.
