custom table? i guess the stain makes the table look like an oldschool piece of furniture. matches the stereo's set up look/personality perfectly.

My views exactly.

There's a set of monitors, 2 turntables and a mixer. All on a nice table. With nice space between all of the components. That's what i meant in my first post, but hey, i probably just used the wrong word

still want to know how it was built

nelly

Posted by Trance Nutter on Feb-03-2006 00:42:

Yup, built myself with lots of help from my dad.

Basically made from MDF, with pine frames for the bases. Was designed around the stereo with the sole intention of being able to fit it into the centre section perfectly (ended up a bit more perfect than i was planning!). Veneered and stained. Weighs a tonne.

Its about 500mm deep, around 900mm high (from the top of the top down) (I'm about 5'10" tall and find this suits me pretty well) and about 2400mm long.

Easiest way to explain it if someone want to do something similar, square pine (2x4" and to whatever dimensions you want, mine were bout 390mm x 480mm external dimensions) base, MDF on top as the bottom shelf, MDF sides and a shelf about half way up. I've done that three times (two shelf units and one for the stereo), attach them all together (bolts down the bottom joining the bases together, and then put the top on which is just one single length. L brackets at the tops of each of the sides screws the top down, most important thing is to make sure the sides are perfectly vertical when you screw the top down or else the whole this is gonna lean to one side. Coupla holes (about 2" diameter) in the top to drop cables behind the amp and you're set. Sounds a lot easier than it was. oh, and a couple of sheets of ply or something similar on the back to help stabilise it all. The shelf on which the stereo sits is just sitting there, its not attached down so it can be lifted, all the power cables and everything drop underneath that.

Having it in three sections allows easier movement as you can just detach the top, undo the bolts and move it in three parts.

Later on I might try to draw some diagrams to explain it a bit better and post them in the dj table thread.

What do you think of the ST150's mate?

Posted by Trance Nutter on Feb-03-2006 03:34:

lovin them.
No complaints at all. Haven't used Techs so I can't compare, but these would take one hell of an effort to beat.

Nice decks trance nutter.. Always interesting to see someone with non-Technics decks. How are they? Have you heard of the Super-OEM tables (very popular in Holland/Belgium)?

Posted by Psiweaver on Feb-03-2006 19:37:

I too have st-150s and I absolutely love them. I've used techs before and I honestly prefer my st-150s to the techs.

Posted by n3lly on Feb-04-2006 22:56:

Is that a piece of cardboard holding the mixer up?

You nutter! lol

I quite like the look of those numark decks though..

nelly

Posted by xstalkrx on Feb-04-2006 23:44:

lmao...ya that is cardboard holding the mixer up. the decks aren't bad. they aren't as sturdy as I would like, but they were pretty cheap and they are of course direct drive.

Posted by T-Soma on Feb-05-2006 01:29:

Dont you atleast have a plank of wood?
Id be too scared to trust my mixer to cardboard.

Posted by M.S.D on Feb-05-2006 03:23:

This is my setup but my faders on the numark mixer are leaking.
I spent last night looking over the shoulder of DJ NA. First time i seen a set of pioneer cdj 1000's in action. I'm in love and will be going further into debt to score me some

Posted by benjaminadam on Feb-05-2006 13:34:

Here's the dusty setup from the club downtown.

2 Technics SL-DZ1200's
2 Technics 1200MK5's
Pioneer DJM-600

To bad they only play EDM to get people to leave...

I don't think I've taken a photo of my entire setup yet.

I am currently accepting donations for a new desk.

Ok, that has got to be one of the sweetest tables I've seen. Did you buy it or make it?
