I've only just started making music. I like this track but it just doesn't seem as full as some things others have made. Any ways I could get it to sound better?

You're right man; its definitely not, the original was really bad. I dont know why I really bothered with it, I guess I wanted something to work on. I dont think I will even give it them to release -- pointless. At least it has an oldschool vibe I suppose that is a small victory for me.

It's all about your own journey, don't take it too personally . If you enjoyed making it that's all that matters

Norms to follow
Spectators are encouraged to comment as well, and if the newest track posted already has been commented on, you are free to pick whichever you like to comment on, if you're gonna post a WIP.
But has it been there longer than a week it's usually turned into a finished song by then, so keep comments to freshly posted songs.

I guess deep down inside, if I make anything at all im happy lol, its hard to judge when its super fresh. 3 sessions in now.

I know the stereo separation is fucked, I cant blame my gear can I? I'm long overdue for an overhaul.

Posted by SystematicX1 on Jun-12-2013 04:34:

I'd have to agree MSZ...I have heard your tracks before, I KNOW you have better stuff up your sleeve

And Thanks for pointing that out Tehlord, I probably should have re read the beginning myself but didnt. Fail...I shall remember that from here on out.

dont like the gurgling bass sound, would like to hear it without that. The sustained bass sound fits well - is the kick in stereo?

Posted by MSZ on Jun-12-2013 23:35:

Im keeping that zipper sound xD Im more or less done just adding a bridge and tidying up the intro and outro, transitions and breakdown. I've sucked what I want into it. The kick is partially in stereo, I do this trick where I spread 40% of it with resonance. My buddies always tell me to mono shit, and frankly I dont really care because im producing for myself, some of my fans/colleagues like it anyway. I've got my highs down, my low end is fucked because im mixing in the dark. The mids are my biggest issue right now, I need to develop some techniques for it.

I like the percs, groovy.....

Posted by Trancelover03591 on Jun-13-2013 20:05:

I doubt very many people on TA like the genre of this track but if anyone has any feedback on how I can improve I appreciate it:

to my ears the production is pretty spot on in terms of mixing and space - i think you could do much better music wise just my 2c

Hey there,
Nice energy! I just think some drum parts are too dry, like that first kick. I'd add some reverb, but not much to give it some warmth and dimension. That's just my opinion, it's a good track.

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this forum and to producing EDM but I've been writing and recording Rock, Blues, World and Jazz for some years now. I don't really know the genre of this track but this almost translates my vibe on that that day.
Cheers.

overall it sounded slightly harsh/fatiguing to my ears - might need some eq here and there

Bam, new track i'm working on.

Posted by evo8 on Jun-14-2013 23:57:

pretty good Juan, i like the stabs and stuff that comes in as the track progresses

Not sure on the kick, would like it to thump a bit more maybe? Also try not dropping the kick out in that first breakdown, maybe just highpass a bit instead, so the energy is retained, you can always drop it out later

nice overall though, even if im not into that sound anymore

Posted by evo8 on Jun-14-2013 23:58:

final one for the weekend, hope to work on this tomorrow some more
not sure on the kick, may try changing it (hate that)

Thanks evo, Yeh i can always add more thump to the kick. I'v seen this particular kick drop in many tunes so i replicated, perhaps its not good on mine, thats why i need second ears.

I made it really quickly, started it out with a 1/16 kick loop and added the rest in then progressed from there. Its a lot of fun. :P

Nice kickdrum, stabs are warm and nice. Very interested on how it progresses.
