Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh, are you kidding me?? That is the most beautiful studio in this thread!

when i looked at all those analogue step sequencers the first thing i thought was 'hey, what if a patch cable dies on you?'

the expression 'needle in a haystack' springs to mind.

Well, they aren't really step sequencers, there are like 3 Arp2600 there, a Moog 55 and a Roland System 700.. Aah modular synthesizers Allthough some of them do have step sequencers.. And how often does patch cables fail?

Posted by Derivative on Jan-13-2005 22:54:

dunno. one my patch cables failed once on my guitar setup. well i lie - ive had patch cables fail more than once. more like 4 or 5 separate occassions. cheap leads. the most annoying one was my first guitar rig consisting of 2 pedals. 1 multi effects processor. 8 cables in all. took me hours to figure out it was the patch cable. i kept thinking id been sold a duff boss overdrive pedal. so i harangued the dude i bought it off. then uhhhh found it was my mistake and uhhhh, never mentioned it again.

Yeah, that's true.. But now that you know that it might be the patch cable it won't really take that long to find out if you have a faulty cable? And you probably know what you are doing when you own a studio like that..

I put as much time on my equipment as I can, but between work and party organization it doesn't get as much use as I'd like, I need a better organized setup (and a studio mixer!)

Now kids you begin to understand the meaning of word "patch"? As you can see - back in the old days, you didn't have pre-set sound. You just had bunch of transistors (VCO, DCO, LFO) that were hooked up together with a cable to create a sound by combining sound generating modules.

In todays synths (analog or digital) you have a virtual patch, which allows creation of sound.

Nice picture - for all music geeks everywhere this is the equivalent of MARC I
