Yeah, maybe in a year or so when Intel releases Skylake and they get incorporated into the next line of iMacs. Until then it just doesn't make sense for me to buy that.

Its the "tock" iteration of Intel's tick tock cycle, meaning its a totally new architecture and you can expect roughly ~20% better performance across the board compared to the last tick.

I have an i7 3770k so when Skylake comes out I will be doing 2 tocks. That is roughly 44% performance increase over my current CPU.

added an Avalon AD2055 to the chain

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-06-2015 19:45:

How much did that cost?

Plan on getting new synths?

Posted by Raphie on Mar-06-2015 20:51:

No I'm done with synths, you can google this chain up at vintage king 😂

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-06-2015 20:53:

thats cool

Posted by Innocence Lost on Mar-07-2015 13:12:

Mastering chain.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-07-2015 13:40:

post a dynamic piece of one of your productions in a wetransfer link. No clipped -6rms dBFS stuff, but dynamic without squashed compression or limiting and i'll see what i can do.

That is fucking sweet. I used to know all the guys at Avalon Designs back in my audio retail days and they are the real deal. They are one of the few manufacturers who actually do true class A architecture.

That EQ is beautiful - I've only used it once for a guy that put it on his spec list, but the thing that struck me was the highs are so clean without being harsh. Nice piece of kit.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-08-2015 07:40:

Yes, it's pure gold, when running a track through is unit it's like sprinkling fairy dust.
It just sounds magical. Liquid, open, smooth, you can really unfold a track if the potential is there,

Posted by TranceElevation on Mar-08-2015 09:03:

Raphie, we don't deserve you.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-08-2015 15:33:

Yes did see the link, did not listen to it yet though

Posted by tehlord on Mar-08-2015 15:48:

Your new bit of kit is now a can of worms.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-08-2015 17:27:

Probably...

Posted by Raphie on Mar-08-2015 19:08:

can you wetransfer?
sendspace is just one big spyware trap, download managers, exe files crap.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-08-2015 19:28:

So i listened to the file, not sure what you want me to do with this
these sound like reason refills with all fully treated samples and A LOT of treble and Bass on the masterbus. Not the typical track that needs more..... it needed less, so that's what i did, I took out some of the "ex-girlfriend" freqs and restored a bit of midrange.

not sure how you export, but you had some huge DC issues in some of the samples as well, anyway: Download link

Posted by tehlord on Mar-08-2015 19:37:

Did you try the EM-EQ2?

The idea of a dual mono pultec clone is quite appealing.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-08-2015 20:11:

Haven't tried the a-designs, but have got the lindell, curious about the new warm too

Posted by tehlord on Mar-08-2015 21:22:

There's a vid on the A-Designs website and the 100hz boost is most convincing.

Posted by Raphie on Mar-10-2015 15:09:

If that's cell phone territory for u, you either need new monitors, or get your ears checked, measure your room with REW might also be a good idea, not to be funny but the track sounded like it had 5 loudness buttons in serial on (remember them from the old stereo?)
The DC is probably residing in one of the samples
Ex GF is ear piercing territory / Tinittus dead spots the metalic 4k 7k and 10k area.
"Boosting for air" feels like getting needles stung in your eardrum or being made to chew tinfoil for people with more sensitive hearing
Regarding the low end, your speakers probably can't play the lowest octave hence you missed shitloads of mud that takes over on a full range system
It's not all bad, but easy on the smiley curve... It gets overdone easily

I have doubled checked on my HiFi and Car stereo too but I have a hard time picking out whats wrong other than the entire sound is muddy, unclear and the synths isnt standing out. basically its the same for all the tracks i make and its been a problem for a decade indepdent on the monitor situation, could be something wrong with my ears after early 20s clubbing and djeing.
yeah 20 years get to your eardrums, AKG240 is half decent just missing the really low end, hence you dial in too much to compensate and it's too much when played elsewhere.

Same here, and I have the exact same problem, but I try counter it early by referencing a lot to something that has the low end I want.. Really takes away some of the enjoyment of actually making music when I have to mix with such a puny bass for it to sound OK elsewhere.
