Originally posted by Raphie now all is working again and little side projects like TA Colours are out of the way, I need to get back to producing again. Have a few collabs lined up. Nice remixpack from Caleb as well which I'm going to play with. So more play besides work. |
Check out my new desktop, all for maximum computing power.
Just get one.
Fantastic machines.
Welcome to the club.

It sounds very very good. I don't think it sounds like the 808 or 909 at all, but still sounds good in its own right. The hands on aspect of it is really not to be sniffed at and I'm already feeling like I need to learn how to 'play' it.
The DAW integration (audio over USB) is a fucking joke on a PC, but on a Mac where you can aggregate audio devices it'll probably work much better.
The scatter function is a bit of a cheesy afterthought and the FX are 'ok', but the rest of it rocks.

It doesn't have individual audio outputs per part, but it does have 4 assignable audio outputs. I just think it's a shame they didn't give it 6 as that would have matched the 6 groups of drum sounds.
So close.........
Where's the arp oddessy gonna fit?
I was thinking of putting on my lap and just living in the chair.
Get a really tiny desk and cram everything on it.

Well i put everything in the shower and it still working fine, hey hey. boohoo.
Added a dedicated place away from my DAW with no keyboard and mouse for just pure jammin with one of my old MIDI keyboards. The monitors are nice incase I need to reference some scales / chords there.

Originally posted by Robotrance the keyboard could be behind the monitors and the desk in the middle of the floor so taht you can access the keyboard on the back side. kinda like a kitchen isle. its all about small desks. |

I get a decent amount of use out of it and I like how its workflow/programming works. Its pretty fast for me to program a nice sequence to go along with what I am working on. The only downside to the TB-3 is you can't trigger pattern playback over MIDI, it very much works in a standard MIDI way.
I can't complain about the sound either though I am not quite convinced by the built in distortion, it sounds too harsh for my ears on most settings. Try feeding it into a high quality distortion plugin for best results to phatten/warm up the sound. Camel Phat works wonders for me...
The other builtin effects are nice but I always record with the standard saw/square wave unless I am doing a live jam kind of thing.
Cool thanks.
None of the issues you mention bother me that much as I intend to use it mainly as a live performance machine, probably with a guitar pedal distortion.
I think I'll grab one to hook up to the TR8
