i like this, the toms really pop out of my macbook speakers , every sound sounds clear and crisp, i like the Balearic vibe and i feel the "saw lead" thing that comes in is sort of too "harsh" and "digital" of what the aura of the track is... if that makes sense .. but that's just my personal taste ...otherwise good stuff.

i would agree about the saw stab - if it has to be there then i would push it back further into the mix and maybe even roll back the cutoff a bit so its not as imposing

thats really nice to listen to Darek, relaxing

agree with above - the style is nice but mix seems a little jumpy or something?

I love the idea of the deep driving kick, but I think they lack definition. But then again my HS7s start rolling off below 43hz, and I'm pretty sure this is below, which is still audible, but I can't judge it clearly, so if you can, check if its really an issue.

Maybe the saw lead is a bit too loud in relation to everything else. (Edit: no its not, its just uh, dry/digital as other guys said)

Musically, its on point as usual.

Darek and Evo can you give me a bit more specific detail on what you mean by 'jumpy' and 'uneven' and 'out of balance'? By out of balance do you mean some bits are too loud - maybe the drums I was thinking?

The sustained bass is deliberately jumpy and moving around I was after this feel.

Ignore those loud vocal stabs and I have not properly done transitions yet.

I have yet to do a final mixdown but it's better I have your input now to guide me.

Cheers

I am trying to listen to your track Darek but here at work sc wont play just now, so will take a listen later.

Will try to help point you to right place after I come back from meeting (in about 3hrs).

I will give proper response to each of you latter but would like you to know that this is first time I started a track with drums lol - usually I love to play with chord to get me some kind of concept of melody and working my way up from there lol - it always a first time for everything

Richard, are you doing any sidechaining on the bass?

Love those Arps man....
Kick seems a lil op.
The piano stab and vocal shot seems a little out of place from what you originally started off with. Seems disjointed.
I'd keep the groove you started off with as it is for sure the right vibe for tropical.

I decided to pull this out after many months and wanted to give it another go and at the very least finish the track.
Although there is a lot of tightening I need to do on it,it is almost there.
This is a remix for Adventure club's song Gold. Oddly enough as much as the original is uplifting, this piece is and has a very melancholy and somber vibe.
Always debated if it was worth the effort.
(the ending has some weird cuts, I do recognize them...just wanted to get a feeling for the end)

I like it. It has nice progression and pretty melody. Not sure about that lead stab sound... but that's just a matter of preference.

You should finish this, sounds good...

:32 second mark, build around this.
Although simple, its your hook.
Just a suggestion, change that sub bass tone. Its absorbing all your lower frequency and making it muddy. The progression is fine and is more cohesive at the 2:09 mark.
Lower your notes in your piano roll on that bassline at 3:30 bassline
Personally, I think you have got something with this track.

Richard, what do you have on your master channel -> compressor, limiter or any automatic volume level compensator? - your mix sounds like is pulsing, it is kind of strange unless you are developing completely new style and this could be a trade mark of it - really interesting man

I would not scrap this project - you have enough in there to make it work.
I would work on overall flow and character of this track, also your drums are really dominating and looks like you are trying to hide (by making those drums so forward) your imperfection in all other elements/sounds of this production lol - if you know what I mean.

Another thing is those wobbly bass line - it has very distinct characteristic to it and need to blend much more coherent with its surrounding - but it is lovely idea which need to be translate a bit better to achieve desire result.

Cheers,

Darek

One suggestion so far I would love to give you is to work with your individual instruments sound levels and shape - I would use EQ and compressor to massage those sounds to have much more smoother sounds which on the end will translate into a much more pleasing and dynamic final effect.

Control your bass line -> undercut all mid/high freq from it and let other instruments have some room in your mix.

What is your main chords progression?, what the story? - develop this and try to build around it, you could also change pattern/sequence - work on your harmonics and dynamics but the most important thing is effectiveness of your creativity on your listener, you have to grab his attention and keep him/her glue to it for the entire length of this track if you know what I mean

Darek

Yeah, this "saw lead" sounds was rounded already to sound a bit smoother but I think I may have to either use more EQ on it or just go for different sound lol - so far I have two instances of MAschine2 and 8 instances of LennarDigital Sylenth with bunch of different sound bunk lol.

Agree, was already dealt with but may be not enough lol (as I mention in my response to LoveHate comment) - appreciate for your nice words Paul.

Yeah, with this particular kick there is a lot of characteristic below 43Hz and my B@W (but they only go down to 28Hz) are translating those very well lol - good point man, appreciate. Also the "saw lead" issue was address already in my previous response.

Nice to have your comment man

It has that restful summer deep quality to it. I would again suggest you alter the drums, they are a bit static / loopy and dominating so don't really fit the music.

So to be clear what I am suggesting, maybe start with nice simple kick and short clean open hat, and gradually build the drums as you go because now it sounds like you just apply a standard loop and the open hat on it is very dominant.

One other suggestion, put some simple female reverb drenched vocal stab here n there just to round things off and give it personality.

Interestingly dark and atmospheric.
Needs more of a journey to somewhere after a while, maybe some loudish dark string orchestra or something with some crashing timpani drums, wailing guitars and so on maybe, even just for a short period to really satisfy the tension. Maybe not

One thing I am certain on though is the drums need to sit better, they need to be a bit quitter as I cannot hear the background too well at times, and also a bit dirtier / some roomy ambience etc so they sit better in the atmosphere you have sculpted.
I find the snare a bit wooley here, could you find a cleaner more acoustic one maybe?

Deffo worth a final push to finish it mate.
