So...brief recap. New remix...did some things I just never did before along the lines of EQ (I still think I'm failing in that dept.) as well as composition.
The problem I have with this track (as I do with each track I make) is it is sounding better because I have tried following Duda's comment on EQ,which basically is "cutting out sound". This is seemingly more clearer to understand now,however..I am lacking dynamics which I so desire to be able to achieve. Is it better than my last track...yea,but it lacks...conviction...lol
It is almost done but has some noticeable areas needing work or just plain missing.
Any ear lending is and always appreciated.

I will comment on this one a bit latter as I have to go now - I like what I'm hearing so far - 1:15 you should have much more energy going on, like full swing to finally drive this track

Cheers man,

Darek

Cheers Bruth.

I've updated it - it's I think my best track to date and yet the quickest I've made.
Any changes needed people?

Then to find a label..........

The thing is, the bass drum is completely nonexistent in the mix compared to the insanely loud vocals that take over everything. The snare roll also sounds very retro, and not in a good way.

Infact I thought that kick was the build-up towards the full kick. So you're kinda left with a feeling expecting the kick to finally come in with its full power but it never does.

Thanks for the replies all, and I totally agree with the comments. I really struggled with this one and it slowly became disjointed.
I'm ditching this one I think, it just is a weird mash of to me.
I must admit the oddness is sort of appealing to me in a strange way and maybe one day when I don't get as frustrated I may just go back in and redo it.

You only need to turn the vocals down and the kick up and it's already infinitely better.

I have to start taking criticism better as I was about to just say fuck it and ditch this track due to the fact it has been a 5 month project and VERY frustrating. Seeing your guys replies and me "thinking" it was ok,when it's not. So, yea...I guess you could say I do know what you are referencing.
So ::deep breath:: here is my reasoning (which is obviously wrong)
I was having SC issues where my kick would completely dissolve under the bass. At certain times,on certain notes the bass would swell so much it distorted. I was and am having issues being in the red already and since I am mixing on cans I felt that I may have had to much bass. So, I cut out some of the sub and the kick.
Now then...in my car I have an extremely good audio set up which is also treated. I use them for checking my mix (which I try to do on as many devices as possible anyway, this just being the pinnacle). IMHO, I felt it was pretty decent and still better than any of my other mixes. Guess, I am wrong.

Now then...the comment from TranceElevation about presence. I am unsure if we are referring to the same thing or not however, I did mention that I felt this track lacks conviction..I still feel that way. Please if you could explain your reasoning.

So let me give you my perspective on this track -> love intro till 1:00 min mark, after that this raiser till 1:15 create little expectation for more driving and energetic part in your track end unfortunately wasn't there so for now I'm missing this driving force for this WIP and this would give you a lot of dynamics which you are missing right now - but let me tall you this 'first min is a class' so I would suggest (if I can) to work on your main part (like a 10 sec slice of your track) and glue it with you intro.

I really like this intro man, is really sweet.

Richard this is really nice blend of Hose/DnB track which would draw quite some attention but at some point I would like to hear a distinct pluck or a lead playing a massive melodic part (best in first 2~3 min of your track) to catch attention or to retain one which was already created - this hes some serious potential my friend.

So I did this... thing. I'm not even sure what genre this is. Tech house? Techno?

Listen, the track is really decent. Don't bin it at all. If you're unsure or tired of some projects is better to save them somewhere and forget about them for some time, then get back at it with fresh ears, perspective and more knowledge.
Mystery also hint it needs just some little corrections.

By presence I mean it lacks presence...
From what I can hear there isn't any compression or very subtle...
If you reduced slightly the dynamic range of your bass it'b be easier for you to mix it with the kick. (then if that doesn't solve it you could try with dynamic eq). Only your low end actually needs more presence, the rest is very pleasant. Is always good to hear dynamic tracks like yours.

Then I hear some single element errors (just from my personal perspective) but overall the track is good.

Keep on, you're on the right path.

I personally would definite it as tech house.

The mixing is really appropriate for the kind. Anyway, the structure leaves much to be desired. Till 1:05 is great, it hooks you...but then you have just build-ups of elements that don't really seem connected between each other.

Interesting background nuances.

tech house maybe? who knows
thought it gets a bit cluttered in the middle third, few too many elements maybe

Soundi biggg Darek, good work.

Remove that 'jib jibber' it sounds naff.

At about 3 mins it gets a bit clashing.

Rea; good club track tho, nice vibe and pro soundz

It only gets the manipulated drum loop and that 8-bit synth hit there, but maybe the introduction is a bit too sudden.

I'm not really sure what to do with it. It started out as a knob twiddling experiment out of boredom, but I've grown attached to it now.

Its got a nice groove and I like the choice of sounds and percussion.

I know you may not want to hear this but I would add some cliche white noise transitions at certain intervals to kinda "guide" the track along a bit more. It doesn't have to be anything too big, just some transition white noise sounds. It would provide some tension and relief. Just my 2 cents.

Nice track!

on repeat its not so bad, maybe try mono-ing some of the extra elements, should appear to free up space

Here is a track I have been working on some this weekend... Does it work from a conceptual level? I realize the percussion and mixing need work. I havn't gone into mixing deep yet and am just getting close to finishing the arrangement:

EDIT:

I think I am going to redo the synth progression in the first half after listening to it again.

Real nice groove, love the kik/bass, made me move.

You just need to now give the track a bi more defined personality - there's always a danger with a sorta live tweaked drone in the beckground that it can come across as a bit of a random noodle. So maybe after a minute make the drone into a sorta 8 bar rhythmic drone with a definite personality and role.

The odd stab and / or vocal stab would also give it a proper personality.

IMO

the arp that comes in around 40 seconds is class, really dark or something, i would use it as the foundation, i dont really like where you take the track later on, i would make something really dark with that arp but thats probably not the direction you want to go

Yeah, absolutely love that ARP sound, C-16 on the TB-3. I wrote the track around that originally, tried to integrate it into more of the track but was having some issues making it work. Might give it another shot and add a bit more of a darker progression / atmosphere as that's kinda what I was originally going for but got carried away in the 2nd part of the track.
