Why does everyone have two screens??

Posted by postman on Aug-02-2004 18:29:

because, in my opinion atleast, cubase doesn't fit on one 15" screen :P

i have 2 screens too, so the project can be on one screen, and the mixer, vst's and stuff on the other.

this pic opened up my eyes to the possibilites of two screens..

http://vertr.com/storage/dawondualmonitors.jpg

it's not just good for producing but for just using your computer too.. watching cartoons on one monitor and chatting on the other is sooo great

Posted by DJ-Igloo on Aug-02-2004 19:52:

yep im about to purchase 2 lcd moniters and get rid of this crt

Posted by EliPsE on Aug-02-2004 20:15:

ahh yes Dual monitors is amazing. I might add a 3rd dunno yet heh

Posted by DJDIRTY on Aug-02-2004 23:12:

About the duall monitors.. I run two for about 3- 4 years now and once you get use to the two you wont's want to touch say Cubase when it's running on one. I will never go to one monitor again, unless it's one of those new wide screen one's...

Yeah...

Just my "secondary" 15" monitor broke.

Need to buy another 19" to fit all my stuff..

Posted by websley on Aug-04-2004 18:23:

I once "lost" the VST plugin window. (I guess I programmed it to show up "somewhere" on the Cubase-workspace) I think 2 monitors would be a great solution for me!

Cheaper. Hehe. Anyway, base on my room setup. I think Event to me are more then enuff. And XL sound rather cool.

ANyway, I get to pay by installment, thats why.

What you can't see: Echo Mia, Cubase SL, Cool Edit 2000, Roland KC-100 Keyboard Amp.

I just bought a laptop so that kind of took some money. I am probably gonna sell my rm1x (I use Cubase now) and buy some monitors with the money.

I wouldn't mind adding a JP-8080 and a Virus to my setup though!

Why so many studio suites?
you don't need all of those..thats just a massive waste of money that can go to a lot of nice gear. Pick one and go with it.

anyway I don't have any pics but here's the list

Yamaha Tx81z
Yamaha CS1x
Waldorf Q KB
Waldorf Microwave XT
Novation K-Station
MAM MB33 Mark II
Nord Lead 2
novation Drumstation
electrix EQ Killer(the best kept secret in eq's)
Delta 1010
Mackie 1402(gonna upgrade soon)
Alesis M1 Active MK2's
Alesis 3630 compressor
Cubase SX 2.0
Recycle 2.0
TC Native Plug-ins VST

Posted by alanzo on Aug-08-2004 21:11:

my dream studio ATM:

3.4Ghz PC with 2 LCD monitors
Virus C
JP8080
M-AUdio Keystation 88
Event TR8 Monitors

I believe in a small studio.. what's the point in having a shit load of hardware? I already feel over-whelmed and all I have is a Virus Rack Classic and Spectrasonics Atmosphere

Posted by Limit on Aug-08-2004 21:40:

I intend to buy a virus but don't have the money. I love my hardware as you can see..but i make sure that all my gear has its own specific sound and thats exactly what i've got. the only thing missing is a good fx processor, which i intend to buy a TC M-one XL one day, but for now I'll stick to my VST effects and sell them when i get a hardware box...hardware is so much more versitle. for now I'm extremely happy with my setup and don't want much more.

to be honest....

I LOVE ProTools for mixing, but hate it for production.
That's what the other workstation is for.
The second reason why i have 2 workstations is that i want both worlds.... Mac and PC.

Posted by DJ-Igloo on Aug-09-2004 18:44:

im purchasing a virus kc and jp 8000 today for my studio and a rack mount mixer and a couple of other things

Posted by alanzo on Aug-09-2004 19:06:

can anyone explain to me the importance of using a mixer? can't you just mix everything in your sequencer?

Well, most soundcards don't have enough inputs to hook all of your
synths to it.

I mean, you can't hook up 5 synthesizers into 4 inputs.
