I will do that.

Trying to resurrect one of my old work (collab with Anakratis) and adding vocal to this Progressive House track - at this moment vocal is only in small portion of this WIP and only as a place holder but you could hear my idea how it suppose to work lol - any thoughts?

Here we go - with vocal:

Cheers,

Darek

I'd like to hear the vocals come back again (I get what you're saying about a placeholder, just want to hear more). Production top-notch as usual.

Posted by Evolve140 on Feb-20-2015 21:40:

Starts off good has a solid chug, vocals not really sitting in there, lots of extra mid EQ in there, personally I would have mixed it much different. Even that opening more spoken word vocal part I would take out and just use that more singing part, it would have the benefit it standing out more. There is some EQ somewhere low mid *in the mix I would look at possibly notching down a couple dBs, weird fullness in some small area.

the arrangement is kind of all over the place, for the strongest part of the track to stand out, which is that singing vocal bit, i'd say do a breakdown featuring the vocal and some instrumentation would help, but right now it doesn't have a strongest moment, it just seems to kinda blend. either way the track sounds decent but you really need to find another track on ASOT or TATW or something to A&B it to so the arrangement can improve somehow

i like the vocal, it would be fun to do something with it...

Lol Boob, not sure where to start with your analysis man - arrangement was set to be the stronger part of this track (4 years ago lol) and I know that need to be rework to seat properly with this vocal but I just don't see where this "arrangement is kind of all over the place" comment is base on (unless this is your completely personal take on this track). I do definitely agree that some EQ needs to happen but this will be done a bit later when I will get a lot of more stuff place where it suppose to be - it will have to wait a few good days as I have another release commitment schedule on my list - nice to have you involve man and see you working on new stuff - appreciate !!!

Edit: you pretty much like that track before lol - it is all good man (it was a memory test)

yes personal taste but also not sure I understand the point of dragging a track out for 4 years lol it might just be my personal philosophy and one iv'e developed over time with a friend that moving forward means just starting new tracks. it's not a style i know about or listen to but if it's a style that hasn't changed in 4 years i don't know. i believe i've heard better work from you. it's personal tho

A current work in progress, it's still at the very beginnings of the draft period where I'm figuring out how things sound with one another.

Nothing has been EQ'd or compressed yet, except a limiter in the master track.

Too much bass, too wild, too strong, too big, overwhelming, dominant, uncontrolled, boomy, huge, enormous, gigantic, massive, powerful, mighty, potent, titanic, imperial.

How are we suppose to give proper feedback if how you started was totally the wrong way.

It is all good Man, just one of those great sounding track (from 4 years ago) rework - will sound good on the end you can trust me lol (if I decide to work on it).

Cheers mate,

Darek

Lost I typically do compression as I'm going I just felt like getting ideas done first this time.

Whoa lots of adjectives but yea I'll clean it up a bit. Right now ideas are flowing but I guess I need to restrain them.

...because that's not the wrong way to start?

You build the house first. Then you decorate it.

I'm sorry. I try to find something good to say about everything people post here, but I just don't hear anything that sounds good. None of the melodic pieces work with each other, that weird stuttery (pitched snare? tom?) rhythm thing in the beginning just sounds like a crap DJ failing to beatmatch... it's a mess. The opening section of that chiptune-esque melody is too long, but I suppose thta bit could work in a really lo-fi 8-bit kinda track.

a bit of new stuff from me - it's trance - 130bpm. WIP so any criticism would be appreciated. Basically, it's having fun with my access virus

cheers

Sounds catchy so far.
Some thoughts;

1) Use other clap / snare hits in place of some of those big splash claps.
2) On the higher pitched chords extend the release

This track begins at 2.25 for me. The rest prior to this sounds a bit old fashioned and Euro pop. The singing does not much for me so far.
Lovely sounding synths from 2.25, I'm jealous!

So finally after months of trying I feel I have cracked the bass on this track.

I will get this pro mastered perhaps by our good Dutch analogue friend here.

Can you please critique this. Does the bass growl enough?

I made some automation mistakes in the break which I will sort.

Riding the levels of things like vocals and piano on this has been a nightmare taking massive amounts of time but still I think there are errors.

Richard!! Dood...Great cut man...really dig this and since I do listen to your music I gotta say. IMHO, this is one of if NOT your best work yet.
Honestly, I didn't expect the dnb approach, but it works really well (honestly thought some half time was going to make way)
I know your probably wondering most about the bass. To me it sounds solid. I'd probably put a little more rate on the LFO? But that is just personal along with a little more definition to that ducking with a higher attack,again..just personal.
Really like this man and the piano stab is very effective...matter of fact it's sticking in my head! Great job dood! Yea master that one!

He asked if things fit and he didn't even use EQ = Wrong right there homey.

Posted by deegee on Feb-22-2015 19:24:

Richard, that's fantastic. My only tiny quibble would be towards the end when the drums are out, and you mix in those sort of boomy harsh noises--I'd leave them out, personally, and let the vocals shine. Other than that, this is just excellent to my ears.

It seemed really obvious that he was asking about structure.

You do realize that there are people out there who know more than you, right? And that if you listened more you might actually learn something? Like how to plug in speaker cables?

Richard PM me please if you would like to have my opinion on this one - idea is great man.
