Trying to resurrect one of my old work (collab with Anakratis) and adding vocal to this Progressive House track - at this moment vocal is only in small portion of this WIP and only as a place holder but you could hear my idea how it suppose to work lol - any thoughts?
Here we go - with vocal:
Cheers,
Darek
I'd like to hear the vocals come back again (I get what you're saying about a placeholder, just want to hear more). Production top-notch as usual.
Starts off good has a solid chug, vocals not really sitting in there, lots of extra mid EQ in there, personally I would have mixed it much different. Even that opening more spoken word vocal part I would take out and just use that more singing part, it would have the benefit it standing out more. There is some EQ somewhere low mid *in the mix I would look at possibly notching down a couple dBs, weird fullness in some small area.
the arrangement is kind of all over the place, for the strongest part of the track to stand out, which is that singing vocal bit, i'd say do a breakdown featuring the vocal and some instrumentation would help, but right now it doesn't have a strongest moment, it just seems to kinda blend. either way the track sounds decent but you really need to find another track on ASOT or TATW or something to A&B it to so the arrangement can improve somehow
i like the vocal, it would be fun to do something with it...

yes personal taste but also not sure I understand the point of dragging a track out for 4 years lol it might just be my personal philosophy and one iv'e developed over time with a friend that moving forward means just starting new tracks. it's not a style i know about or listen to but if it's a style that hasn't changed in 4 years i don't know. i believe i've heard better work from you. it's personal tho
A current work in progress, it's still at the very beginnings of the draft period where I'm figuring out how things sound with one another.
Nothing has been EQ'd or compressed yet, except a limiter in the master track.
Too much bass, too wild, too strong, too big, overwhelming, dominant, uncontrolled, boomy, huge, enormous, gigantic, massive, powerful, mighty, potent, titanic, imperial.

Lost I typically do compression as I'm going I just felt like getting ideas done first this time.

So finally after months of trying I feel I have cracked the bass on this track.
I will get this pro mastered perhaps by our good Dutch analogue friend here.
Can you please critique this. Does the bass growl enough?
I made some automation mistakes in the break which I will sort.
Riding the levels of things like vocals and piano on this has been a nightmare taking massive amounts of time but still I think there are errors.

Originally posted by deegee ...because that's not the wrong way to start? You build the house first. Then you decorate it. |
Richard, that's fantastic. My only tiny quibble would be towards the end when the drums are out, and you mix in those sort of boomy harsh noises--I'd leave them out, personally, and let the vocals shine. Other than that, this is just excellent to my ears.

Originally posted by deegee It seemed really obvious that he was asking about structure. You do realize that there are people out there who know more than you, right? And that if you listened more you might actually learn something? Like how to plug in speaker cables? |

Originally posted by Innocence Lost LOL Hifi setups are different when it comes to your actual studio setups duh. |
