absolutely i am. we had flight of the concords there a while back, they're regulars. jason segel did some stuff for his muppets movie, goldspot a few days ago for their new album. the studio is actually right outside of LA. recording drums in the tracking room is incredible, really really great sound. our mic selection is mostly vintage, telefunken 251 etc, coles, rca 44's, bno's, klm84's, the list goes on and on. if you ever want to get together and chat, or even online shoot me a PM i'll send you my info

Posted by DJ RANN on Mar-29-2011 00:57:

Nice - I'm no longer at you-know-where but I still do things with some of the composers who also left and they often need good studio space to track in, especially drum spaces (hard to find really great drum spaces) and also vocal rooms with good outboard.

I'll PM you....

nice and minimal. You could spread your monitors a bit though.

Don't have the volume up too high! The high frequencies (at least on the Dynaudios I have) don't disperse until at least a meter away, you'll not only have to watch your ears but also the imaging...

i want to try out dynaudio in my apartment. they are a bit bigger than my genelec and i bet they can fill my livingroom a little better than the genelecs. im afraid to loose the awesome mids on the gens though lol. monitors are hard to choose, especially in untreated rooms. I need to get a dedicated room soon. I want to try out the smallest AIR monitors

Nice. I just finished an install project with a bunch of 703 and Auralex Fibre.

Just one thing (not having a go) but that's a lot of room treatment for some pretty er, shall we say, "limited" monitors?

you are precisely correct. my next upgrade would be either a sub or a next air of monitors such as Adam, Krk or Yamaha.

Which of the two options would you recommend?

Believe it or not, these 5 inch can raise a lot of noise, interestingly enough, they sound a bit softer oppose to no treatment, so it would make sense to upgrade into something larger, but ive been told that a sub would take care of that low end that i am pretty much desperate for at the moment.

Personally, I don't believe in the use of subs for stereo mixing (there's no standard for sub crossovers, not is there a discrete channel in stereo for the sub) so my advice is to just get great stereo monitors.

As fro recommendations, I'm getting fairly self conscious about the whole thing so I'll just post a recent thread, but if you read that all the way through there's detailed discussion in there about what is a good purchase at the moment.

But please let me know if you need any more info or specific recommendations

just treated myself to a MOOG Slim Phatty, a SSL X-Patch and a fortune on Digidesign Digisnake Tascam cables. Also ordered a Editors Keys Cubase shortcut keyboard and an additional 19" birch rack to complement the desk.
This together with the delivery the other week with GIK panels now complements my studio (for now)

New pictures will follow soon, only thing remaining now is a nice sofa for attended sessions.

looks awesome raphie. id put a rug on the floor though, and maybe some basstraps.

edit: BIGGER rug.

Posted by Raphie on May-08-2011 03:59:

ThnX, The room is BIG, (nearly 8 meters wide) there are 12 bass traps (4 superchunks, 2 monster traps and 6 other traps) + 4 diffusor panels (which u can see as cloud and on the left side of the pic and 8 Auralex panels in there, lens just isn't wide enough to capture them all
